Hello,
And welcome to this guided imagination walk,
Where I invite you to join me on a lovely relaxing stroll through a beautiful garden of gratitude.
Let's talk about this word,
Gratitude.
What does it mean?
Well,
It simply means feeling thankful and expressing our thanks.
There are many things we can feel thankful for,
Like receiving a wonderful gift on your birthday,
Or for your favorite cookies baked by your mom.
But today,
I want us to think about the things we can be thankful for every single day,
From the moment we open our eyes.
I'll give you a clue.
When you wake up in the morning,
You might look out the window and appreciate the beautiful sunshine and blue skies with your eyes.
You might smell some pancakes coming from the kitchen with your nose.
Or you use your two feet to step out of bed and feel the fluffy rug on the floor.
Yes,
You guessed it.
Every day,
We can feel thankful for all of our five senses.
Our eyes that let us see,
Our ears that let us hear,
Our nose that helps us smell,
Our tongues that help us taste,
And our fingers and toes that let us touch and feel.
So now,
I want you to find a comfortable position,
Gently close your eyes,
And now we will take three deep breaths together.
Are you ready?
One more deep,
Deep breath.
Now that you're nice and relaxed,
Let's imagine a door.
It's made out of a beautiful type of wood with leaves hanging down from the top.
You notice there is no handle,
So you gently push the door and out shines a brilliant golden light that showers you as you take your first step through the door.
You then notice a fresh smell of flowers and rain.
And with each step,
You feel the soft,
Damp grass beneath your feet and between your toes.
As you walk slowly down this path,
You notice that all the colors seem so bright and alive.
And you can even see little sparkles in the air that look like fireflies.
Here you decide to stop and look all around you.
You take in another deep breath of air.
Up ahead,
Through tall blades of grass,
You see a small,
Shallow pond filled with white lily pads and you can actually see them opening and closing as if they were dancing.
You move closer and you can hear the playful ribbit,
Ribbit of a frog as you watch him hop from one lily pad to another.
Then you look to your right and you see beautifully colored flowers,
All types of flowers,
Roses,
Tulips,
Daffodils.
Now you take a few more steps and you pass some very large trees.
Their trunks are so wide,
You imagine they must be very,
Very old.
So you decide to open your arms and wrap them around the tree trunk to see how wide they really are.
You can barely touch your fingers together,
They are so wide.
Suddenly you can hear a song,
A gorgeous melody,
And you see that it is coming from the birds at the top of this tree.
You look up,
They can see you and they are singing for you all together like your own little concert.
This puts a big smile on your face and you look up at them and say thank you.
As you keep walking down this soft path of grass,
You see a sea of daisies hiding between the tall blades of grass.
They are white and golden in the middle and you are so tempted to just lay down in this bed of daisies.
So you gently lie yourself down and spread your arms and your legs,
Looking up straight at the sunshine.
You hear a gentle gust of wind,
Swish,
And before you know it,
There is something tickling your nose.
You giggle as you see it is a friendly little butterfly,
The colors of the rainbow on its wings and it is feeling very playful.
It sits on the tip of your nose,
Then on your forehead,
Then on your chest,
And each spot it lands on feels magically relaxed.
It sits on your belly,
Then on your left hand,
Then your right,
And then it flutters down to your left knee,
Then your right knee,
And finally it sits on the tip of your left big toe,
And then on your right one.
Your body is so relaxed,
You are almost falling asleep.
Take a moment now to remember all the wonderful things you saw,
Heard,
Smelled,
And felt during your walk through this beautiful garden of gratitude and you suddenly feel very thankful for all that this garden has shown you today.
As you lay in the soft bed of daisies,
You realize that you can always have this feeling of thankfulness towards anything in your life.
You just have to stop and notice.
Now I would like you to gently wiggle your fingers and your toes and slowly open your eyes.
