This session is about the smile.
Allow yourself to notice how your mouth feels.
Become aware of the sensations in your jaw.
We often clench when we feel tense.
Just feel how it feels when you smile.
Notice if your cheeks move,
How your lips feel,
What happens to your jaw muscles.
If you really think of something funny or that you love that brings a natural smile to your face.
And as you connect with the sensation of your smile,
Softly become aware of how that makes you feel in your heart.
It may be a flow,
It may be a tightness and that is also okay.
But what if we play with the idea of experiencing the smile on our face and bringing the sensation of the smile into the chest.
Just do it through your intention.
Have kind of a light-hearted feel about this practice.
The more we strain,
The less we smile.
So if we just play with the idea of moving our smile into our chest,
Stay curious and open.
A smile in my chest.
Notice if it expands you,
Lightens a heavy load or brings a brightness to how you were experiencing your day a moment ago.
And when we bring the sensation of the smile to our chest and allow it to be there,
Allow the sensations in the chest to respond back to the smile.
If someone smiles at you,
How do you open and smile back at them?
Contemplate this as you allow yourself to smile back at yourself.
If there is resistance to this,
Just let the resistance come and go with no judgment and continue to allow yourself to smile back at yourself.
And even if it feels weird,
Just sink into playing with the idea of it and allow that sensation of playfulness to move through your whole system,
Creating a dynamic flow that dissolves some of the seriousness.
What if we greet that person in our life that seems to give us so much grief with a smile already in our hearts before we see them?
Just play with the idea of creating more peace for yourself by bringing forward your smile.
Your inner smile.
When we do this just for ourselves,
Not for anyone else,
We may start to notice that,
Oh,
This bubbly sense of joy that comes with a genuine smile is pretty easy to bring forth and pretty easy to maintain if we keep practicing.
So allow yourself to smile back at all of your cells and allow your heart to smile back at the smile on your face and know that it's okay to be a little silly.
And when you feel ready with the joy in your heart,
Feel free to open your eyes and reconnect with the smile of the universe that is actually always shining down on you.
