So sitting down,
Making yourself comfortable,
Feet on the floor,
Hands on your lap,
Taking a slightly deeper breath in and out,
And closing down the eyes,
Connecting with your breath,
Noticing the flow of the breath in and down and up and out,
Noticing how the breath and the awareness of the breath takes you deeper within.
Notice the connection that your hands have with your lap.
Notice the heat transfers from your hands into your lap and imagine your hands becoming warmer.
The hands are so sensitive they can often react quickly to thoughts and imagination.
Some people like to think of warming their hands on a radiator or in front of a fire.
Perhaps you can imagine your hands warming in the sun or washing your hands under warm water.
Can you notice your hands getting a little warmer?
With a little practice,
You'll be able to generate heat in your hands quite quickly.
There are many uses for generating heat in the hands.
Relaxing the muscles is one of the most important ones.
Once you've learned that you can generate a little more heat in the hands,
You can place your hands on parts of you that are feeling tense and allow that connection,
That energy,
That heat to soften the muscles,
To release,
To ease any discomfort or unease.
With a little practice,
It becomes a mindful technique and you'll find that your hands quite automatically start to become warmer when you place them on parts of yourself that are feeling stressed and anxious.
And with that thought in mind and bringing this technique back with you,
You can have a gentle stretch,
A deeper awakening breath,
Open your eyes and return to the day.
