So,
Sitting down and making yourself comfortable,
Feet on the floor,
Hands on your lap,
Taking a nice,
Gentle,
Deeper breath in and out and closing the eyes,
Allowing them to rest and relax,
And sink down into the breath,
Noticing the flow of air in through the nostrils and down and up and out,
Perhaps noticing the difference in temperature between the in-breath and the out-breath,
Noticing the expansion and contraction of the chest or the stomach or both,
And noticing how you feel as you hold on to this awareness of your breath,
Isn't it curious to realize that this may be the first time today that you've been consciously aware of your breath.
The natural flow of the breath calms us,
Quietens the mind,
Brings us back into the moment and into our bodies.
Today's lesson is to hold on to the awareness of your breath,
To carry the breath with you as you go throughout the day,
Noticing that you're breathing,
Whether it's at the nostrils or in the chest or in the stomach or on the exhale,
It's a mindful practice,
It keeps us in the moment.
Curiously,
Resting your awareness on the breath and carrying the breath with you makes you more aware of what's going on in the moment,
Greater concentration and focus and clarity of thought,
The perfect start to the day.
So having a gentle stretch and a slightly deeper in- and out-breath,
You can open your eyes,
Returning to the day,
Bringing the breath with you.
