Find a comfortable seated or lying down position for this meditation where we will let go of perfectionism.
Tune into the present moment,
Grounding into the surface beneath you.
Focus on your breathing without trying to change it.
Breathing in and out,
Noticing the sensation of your breath entering and exiting your nose or your mouth.
Imagine moments throughout your day or moments throughout your week,
If you are doing this at the start of the day,
Where you felt like you had to be perfect.
Moments where your best did not feel good enough.
Moments where you judged yourself or you judged others for not being good or perfect enough.
Moments where you procrastinated due to fear of not getting something just right.
Now look at these same moments imagining that a young child was performing the task or the activity.
Perhaps you imagine yourself as a child or your best friend.
Imagine blaming and talking to this child in the same negative perfectionistic voice you talk to yourself with now.
We are all humans living in experience,
Trying our very best.
Just as you would not blame a child for not being perfect,
Or even just as you wouldn't blame an adult for not being perfect when they try something for the first time,
You can give yourself this same loving kindness.
You do not have to be perfect.
Nobody has to be perfect.
It is time to let this perfectionism go.
Give these perfectionistic thoughts and traits a color.
Imagine this color slowly leaving your body.
Slowly leaving your body.
Let go of the anxious thoughts of being perfect.
Let go of the anger of not being good enough.
Let go of the sadness of not having all the answers.
Allow this color to flow through you from head to toe,
Leaving your body.
Now picture a new color.
A color that represents being compassionate with yourself.
A color that represents giving yourself grace for your mistakes.
A color that sees your failures as learning experiences and a way forward.
Imagine this color entering your body,
Starting at your head.
Picture it cascading down into your chest,
Your stomach,
Your legs,
Then your feet.
Feel the joy and warmth of this color.
Repeat these affirmations after me.
I am perfect just as I am.
I am perfect just as I am.
I am perfect just as I am.
My best is good enough.
My best is good enough.
My best is good enough.
My best is good enough.
All of my imperfections are lovable.
All of my imperfections are lovable.
All of my imperfections are lovable.
Take these affirmations and this new compassionate color and energy into the rest of your day,
Letting go of perfectionism.
