Welcome to a meditation to turn the page.
My name is Beth and I will be your guide.
So please make yourself comfortable and sit with your spine straight so that the energy can flow freely up and down.
You're also welcome to lay back if that is preferable.
Just make sure that your spine is straight.
Let's release any excess tension in the body by taking a deep breath through the nose.
Exhaling through the mouth,
Releasing that tension.
Feeling the body melt.
Repeat.
Each time you exhale,
Letting go of any creeping tension in the shoulders,
Face,
Belly,
Or elsewhere.
And then just allow the breath to return to normal.
The metaphor of turning the page presents us with the idea that we can end a chapter of our story,
Our life,
And turn over a new leaf,
As they say.
In other words,
We can give ourselves permission to drop the past,
For it to cease to have an enduring impact on our hearts and minds and bodies.
And maybe it's even possible not to just turn the page of the story of our lives,
But to completely put the book aside.
So I invite you now to grab a brand new notebook to imagine a blank page,
Or canvas,
Or screen,
Whichever metaphor you are most inspired by.
The poet Rumi once wrote,
Be an empty page,
Untouched by the words.
Perhaps you've always been that empty page,
And only believed yourself to be the words written upon it.
The words that tried to describe you,
To limit you.
Can you feel the potential in that beautiful,
Pure,
Clean,
White space before you?
Potential and freedom.
Until a mark is made,
There is the unmanifest in all of its mysterious energies,
Awaiting your creation.
Breathe,
And abide in that empty space.
Notice the tendency of the mind to want to fill and rush into that void with ideas or thoughts or judgments,
And remind yourself that you are not the words or ideas or thoughts.
You are that blank page.
You are perhaps even more mysterious than that blank page.
Rest in this beautiful space of potential and unlimited being with me now.
It is time now to return from our meditative practice.
You can do so by starting to move the body,
Maybe taking a deep breath or allowing a stretch.
But don't lose touch with this newfound sense of your unlimited potential,
That you are not defined.
You are not bound.
You are that empty page,
Untouched by words.
