Hello,
It's Dr.
Tricia and today we're going to do a creative council meditation.
It's been said we have anywhere between 50,
000 to 80,
000 thoughts per day.
Most are the same,
Most are negative.
And who is doing the talking most of the time?
It's the inner critic.
There are numerous theories on the inner critic and why it exists.
The inner critic was once necessary because we needed to scout danger during the hunter-and-gatherer days hundreds and hundreds of years ago.
We needed to be discerning and on guard,
But does that still serve us?
Maybe that part is from a critical parent,
Teacher,
Or caregiver that has remained in our internal dialogue.
And we know the inner critic does want to help in surviving,
But it can hold us back from thriving and creating.
We see you inner critic and all of the hard work that you've done,
But for that hard work we're gonna let you take a really brief vacation and we're gonna invite the inner creator to step in.
So let's begin.
I want to invite you to sit in a comfortable seat or lie down and allow the eyes to close or have a gentle gaze at the floor.
Think of your intention for this meditation.
We will take several deep breaths.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale through your mouth,
Letting out a sigh.
Again,
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale,
Welcoming in your intention.
And exhale,
Letting go of anything that doesn't serve you.
Now you can allow your breath to be natural and comfortable.
You're at a top of a stairwell and slowly you'll find yourself walking down the stairs.
With each step you notice yourself becoming more relaxed.
Slowly allow yourself to walk down the stairs until you reach the bottom of the stairs.
You notice there's a door in front of you with a golden handle.
Gently open the handle and you find yourself in a garden.
The garden is full of beautiful flowers.
Notice the colors surrounding you.
Perhaps you hear birds chirping.
The grass is green after having rained yesterday.
Notice your feet in the grass.
Are you barefoot?
Are you wearing shoes?
And if so,
What are they?
The sky is blue.
The sun feels warm on your skin.
Observe how you're feeling.
As you walk through the garden,
You notice a table set up with five chairs.
You take a seat and no several guests will be coming to join you.
You're the guest of honor at this table because there's a place card with your name on it.
As you're about to take a seat,
You notice the first guest arriving.
It's someone in your life who's always been supportive,
A cheerleader for you.
It could be a mentor or a family member,
Partner,
Friend,
Or teacher.
Who is it?
Welcome this being with a warm hug.
As you greet them,
They have something they want to tell you.
Notice what it is.
After this is shared,
A gift is offered to you.
Allow yourself to open the gift.
What is it?
What is its shape?
Its color?
Its size?
Its smell?
What does it feel like in your hands?
Bring the gift towards your heart and breathe it in.
You offer your sincerest gratitude and both take a seat.
As you sit at the table,
You notice two other individuals walking towards you.
These are individuals you have deeply admired for their creative talents.
You don't have to know them personally,
But maybe you do.
They could be living or dead.
Maybe it's an artist or a dancer,
A musician,
Actor,
Writer,
Architect,
Photographer,
Philosopher,
Poet,
Or educator.
Note who these two individuals are.
You're surprised that they're here for this gathering for you in your honor.
What do they look like?
What are they wearing?
Both of them have kind words to offer you about your creative talents.
Listen.
What does each of them say?
How do you feel knowing that they're here in your honor?
You breathe in these beautiful words.
You offer them each a handshake or hug,
Thanking them for their attendance and support.
They sit down at the table and you notice one more being coming towards the table.
This is your inner creator.
What does your inner creator look like?
Sound like?
What is your inner creator wearing?
Your inner creator offers you a hug and whispers words of advice in your ear.
Can you hear what is said?
Breathe this in and welcome this being to the table.
You sit down.
Your inner creator greets everyone at the table as this being organized a special gathering for you.
This table is your creative council and they're gathered here to support you in your next creative endeavor.
You look at each being's kind eyes at the table and have a smile on your face.
At this table you're encouraged to ask any questions you may have about this current creative project you're embarking on.
They are here to offer advice,
Support,
And guidance in their presence.
I'll give you time to be present for their responses.
It's now time for the gathering to end.
You offer each of them a sincere thank you for joining you here today.
You place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
As you say goodbye to each of them they share with you one positive characteristic about you.
You are.
You are.
You are.
You are.
Your inner creator nods and smiles to you reminding you to remember this moment and these powerful words that were offered as gifts to bring home with you.
You know they will always be available to you and you can return back to the space for their guidance but for now you bid them farewell.
You slowly walk towards the door with a golden handle.
You open the door and find the flight of stairs.
You allow yourself to slowly walk up the stairs.
With each step you take you feel a sense of joy and gratitude for having met with this creative team.
You know this is something that you've been longing for.
As you reach the top and final step you can slowly begin to stretch and gently open your eyes with a soft gaze welcoming in the room.
How do you feel?
How was that?
I want you to take time to write down what you experienced and what affirmations were shared.
Remember to keep these words somewhere special that you can look at frequently.
You are special and a creative being.
Thank you for taking the time to do this meditation.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
