We live in a world that constantly asks for our attention.
The notifications,
The decisions.
The mental tabs left open.
Even when the external noise quiets down,
There's often an internal hum.
A low-grade sense of being untethered.
Somewhere between here and the next thing to do.
This is what it feels like to be ungrounded.
And it's incredibly common,
Not because.
.
.
We've done something wrong,
But because the pace of modern life was never designed with our nervous system in mind.
Grounding isn't about forcing calm.
It's not about shutting anything down.
It's about coming back.
Back to the body.
Back to this moment.
Back to the one thing that has always been here.
Which is you.
So let's begin.
If you haven't already,
Find a comfortable position.
And feel the seat beneath you.
Making contact with your body.
This is your opportunity to do nothing but just notice what's here.
Allowing your hands to rest easy.
And closing your eyes.
Taking one full breath in through the nose.
And exhaling slowly with a sigh.
Once again,
Breathing in deeply and letting go.
Drawing your attention down.
Not out,
But down.
Down from the mind.
Down through the chest.
Through the belly.
All the way to where your body makes contact with the earth.
It might be your feet on the floor.
Your seat on a chair.
Or your hands in your lap.
Just feel into the weight of you.
You don't have to create the sensation in your mind.
Gravity is already doing the work.
Your body is already held.
Just take a moment to feel.
That sensation.
Now bring a quiet awareness to your feet.
Noticing where they are pressure of the floor beneath them.
Feeling any sensations that might arise.
This is your anchor.
With each exhale.
Imagine your breath moving downwards through your feet.
Like roots growing slowly into the earth beneath you.
Settling and finding their way down.
You belong here You are allowed to take root.
You are allowed to be still.
Notice how that feels.
And if at any point your mind has wandered.
Simply notice and return to the sensation of the weight of your body coming back to your feet,
Rooted in the earth.
Coming back to the breath.
As you sit here and notice,
Imagine these roots growing deeper into the ground.
Branching out.
Taking shape.
With each breath you grow deeper and deeper into stillness.
Now place one hand on your chest.
And another on your belly.
Feeling the rise and fall beneath your palms.
Taking a slightly deeper breath in.
Holding it gently at the top.
And release slowly all the way out.
Allowing your shoulders to drop.
Your body to soften.
And your mind be at ease.
This is your opportunity for stillness.
Right now,
You are safe.
There is nowhere you need to be but here.
This breath.
This body,
This ground beneath you is enough.
You are enough.
Taking a full breath in through the nose and letting it go through the mouth.
Slowly coming back to our body.
Wiggling our fingers and toes.
Maybe rolling the shoulders back gently.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Take one more breath here before you move into whatever's next.
And carry this with you.
Steadiness isn't something you find outside of yourself.
It's something you return to again and again.
Right here.
You already know how to come home.
