Welcome to this guided visualization meditation for successful sober socializing.
The aim of this meditation is to help prepare you for any social event that you might have coming up and to fill you with confidence and inspiration so you know that you can do it,
You know that you can relax,
You can socialize and have a good time without worrying about alcohol or drinking.
This is such a powerful practice that you can do in the days,
Weeks leading up to any social event that you're worried about to help fill you with confidence so that you can enjoy your event and really make the most of the occasion and enjoy it to the fullest.
I recommend that you listen to this two or three times a week in the weeks leading up to your event so that you can really see yourself,
Feel yourself,
Imagine yourself in the situation enjoying it to the full.
So if you're ready let's get started.
I want you to find a nice comfortable position either sitting with your back well supported or lying down.
Make sure that you're warm enough and you can comfortably relax for 30 to 40 minutes.
This audio is deeply relaxing and wonderfully hypnotic so please only listen to this when you can safely and fully concentrate.
Make sure you have a pen and paper handy because at the end of this audio I want you to spend a bit of time rewriting about what came up for you during this exercise.
So if you're ready take a moment to get comfortable and take a nice deep breath,
Close your eyes and begin to relax.
Just think about relaxing every muscle in your body.
As you relax focus on your breathing.
Follow your breath all the way in and all the way out,
Relaxing more with every out breath.
Now as you are sitting there or lying there comfortably with your eyes closed,
Feeling safe and secure,
I want you to take three very deep breaths and then breathe normally.
So go ahead now,
Breathe in very deeply and now exhale completely.
Breathe in again,
Filling your lungs and exhale completely.
One more time,
Breathing in and breathe out.
Let it go and just allow your breath now to return to its normal natural rhythm.
Nice and slow,
Nice and steady.
I want you to bring your awareness to your eyes now and notice how good it feels to be lying there or sitting there with your eyes soft and comfortable and gently closed and how good it feels just breathing normally with your eyes closed.
I want you to focus only on my voice now,
Putting aside any other thoughts that come to mind as I draw your attention to various parts of the body to help you relax even more.
So just relax and follow my lead as we go on a journey relaxing every muscle in your body.
First of all bring your awareness to your fingers and your hands,
Your wrists and your forearms,
Your upper arms,
Both arms from shoulder to tips of the fingers,
Noticing any tension or stress you might feel in your hands,
In your wrists or your arms and relax all those muscles now.
Relaxing the fingers and the thumbs and the hands and the wrists,
Feel the tension easing away from your arms.
Allow it to float away,
To melt away as the muscles get softer and heavier and very relaxed,
Very,
Very heavy,
Very,
Very relaxed.
Your arms and hands are completely relaxed.
Bring your attention now to your toes,
To your feet and your ankles,
Your calves,
Your knees and your thighs,
Both legs,
The whole of your legs all the way to the tips of your toes.
Be aware of any tension in those muscles and as you concentrate on those muscles in your legs and your feet and your ankles,
Relax those muscles.
Just let every fibre in your legs and feet get soft and heavy.
Allow all the tension to float away,
To melt away.
Let go.
Feel your legs lengthening,
Feeling heavy and soft,
So relaxed now,
So heavy,
Very heavy and very,
Very relaxed.
Bring your attention now to the muscles in your stomach and your lower back,
Your chest and your upper back,
Your whole torso and notice any tension you might feel in that part of the body and then let it go.
Notice how the muscles now in your stomach and chest and your back are becoming more and more relaxed,
Much more relaxed now,
Much softer,
Much heavier,
Coming to rest as the tension drains away,
Drifts away,
Melts away.
You're so relaxed now,
As you move your attention up to your shoulders,
The back of your neck,
The back of your head and your scalp and down the front to your face and your jaw.
Notice if there's any tension and let it go.
With every out breath,
Feel your shoulders drop,
Feel the tension in your neck melt away.
Imagine everything just floating away,
All the tension drifting away as you become more and more relaxed,
Very relaxed now,
As you feel all the muscles from the top of your head to the tip of your toes,
Relax,
Comfortable and heavy.
Feel how good it feels as total relaxation flows throughout your entire body,
All the way from the top of your head to the tip of your toes.
This is a very nice feeling,
A very comfortable place to be.
And now,
While you're resting in this way,
With nothing to do except relax and listen to my words,
I want you to imagine that it's a beautiful summer's day.
I want you to imagine that you're floating on a cloud.
It's so quiet and peaceful and there you are,
At ease with the world,
Just floating,
Just drifting and dreaming as you lie there on your fluffy cloud,
Floating on and on and on.
You're feeling so comfortable now,
So much at ease and completely relaxed.
It's such a lovely feeling,
Such a soothing feeling,
A feeling as though you just want to drift far,
Far away.
You're so much at ease and every muscle and nerve in your entire body is completely relaxed now,
Completely relaxed and totally at ease.
And you feel so heavy,
So calm,
So relaxed that you just want to stay here in this way,
Floating,
Drifting and going into a deeper,
Deeper relaxation.
Every part of your body feels so heavy and comfortable now.
I wonder if you can just let yourself sink and drift deeper and deeper,
Further into relaxation.
You're so relaxed now and all you will hear is my voice.
There are no other sounds.
Anything that you do here is irrelevant,
Insignificant,
Unimportant.
All you can hear is the sound of my voice.
As you go deeper into relaxation,
Breathing slowly and deeply,
I want you to picture yourself enjoying this social event or occasion that you've got coming up.
Is it a party,
Dinner with friends,
A family gathering on the terrace on holiday,
Or an informal barbecue with friends in the garden?
Is it Christmas?
Is it your birthday?
Whatever comes to mind for you,
Whatever social event you're preparing for,
Put yourself in that place now.
Take a moment and put yourself there now.
I want you to fully immerse yourself in that situation as a strong,
Empowered person who doesn't drink,
Doesn't need to drink and has no thoughts or worries about alcohol.
Where are you?
Put yourself in that place and look around and notice.
I want you to see what you see and hear what you hear.
Where are you?
Who are you with?
Notice everything around you now.
What are you doing?
What are you wearing?
What does it sound like?
What does it smell like?
As you see yourself now,
Standing,
Sitting,
Strong and empowered,
Feel the atmosphere.
Feel how good it feels to be there knowing that you are completely alcohol free and feeling so good about it.
Notice the colors,
Hear the sounds,
Hear the music,
Listen to the conversation.
Look down at your glass.
It's such a beautiful glass and in it you've got your favorite alcohol free drink.
You're so excited to be drinking this because you know that you're going to have the best time ever.
Feel the weight of the glass in your hands.
Take it all in.
Enjoy the wonderful aroma of your favorite alcohol free drink and savor the taste as you sip your gorgeous drink.
Notice that you are present in this situation.
You are so present.
You are completely there and really enjoying the moment.
You are having such great conversation.
You're enjoying the company.
The food is amazing and the whole situation is perfect just as it is.
You don't need anything to make it better.
You are deeply relaxed and comfortable.
You are confident,
Safe,
Secure.
No one cares what's in your glass.
You don't worry about anybody.
You are happy and content and relaxed.
You're strong and empowered as you take in your surroundings.
Really focus on what is making this event so special for you.
What is it about where you are that you are enjoying so much and how does that feel?
Notice the people,
The conversation and allow the feelings of joy,
Warm and happiness to wash over you.
Know that this is a wonderful occasion just as it is.
And you feel so incredibly proud to be here,
Happy,
Free,
Content and strong.
This is your reality now.
You get to have it all.
All the joy,
The elation,
That wonderful expansive feeling in your heart and soul of really being present,
Of really enjoying this moment exactly as it is.
Just sit with that feeling for a moment.
Lean into it,
Feel it and savour it.
Allow that warm glow of love,
Connection,
Joy and happiness fill you up.
Allow it to wash over you and fill your entire being.
I want you to think about all the things that make this such a special moment for you.
And imagine that if you were to remove these things one by one,
Your glass slowly fills up with alcohol.
It could be wine,
It could be spirit,
Whatever.
And as your glass fills up with alcohol,
Notice your surroundings begin to change.
The music has gone,
The people are leaving,
There's no food on the table and all the wonderful things you saw,
Felt and experienced before are slowly disappearing.
And you focus on your glass,
Your drink,
The alcohol.
And the more you drink,
The more the mood changes.
And your loved ones leave and the warm glow disappears.
The sparkle starts to fade away until all you are left with now is just alcohol.
And you sit there on your own with your drink,
Feeling sad and lonely and alone.
Where has the joy gone?
Where has that sense of presence,
Love and happiness gone?
There's no warmth,
No connection,
No enjoyment.
What do you see now?
What do you hear now?
What do you feel?
Where would you rather be?
How would you rather feel?
Take a deep breath in now,
As I guide you back into that wonderful place you were before.
The alcohol is gone now.
You don't need it.
You know that it spoils everything.
And you'd much rather be where you were before,
With your joy and your sparkle,
Your friends,
Your family and the wonderful atmosphere.
Feel yourself there again.
Knowing that you are truly present.
Your true self is right there.
The true you who doesn't need to drink.
The true you who knows that alcohol does not make any situation,
Any social event better than it is right now.
Because you're back there with your loved ones,
With your friends,
Enjoying great conversation,
Tasting amazing food and soaking in the wonderful atmosphere as it fills you up with joy and love and presence.
Take a deep breath again and imagine you are sipping a large glass of cool,
Clear,
Fresh,
Sparkling water.
Feel it energize you now.
Feel it wash away all the doubts,
All the worries,
All the fears that you have of socializing without alcohol.
With every sip of this cool,
Clear,
Energizing water,
Feel it fill you with strength,
With confidence and with joy.
Feel it fill you up.
Feel the joy,
Feel the magic,
Feel the fun returning to you as you drink that fresh,
Cool,
Clear,
Cleansing water.
Feel the strength and confidence return.
Feel your self-worth and self-love rising up so it almost spills out of you and you are so confident,
So happy and relaxed again now.
All thoughts of drinking and alcohol gone from your mind as you focus on the all-important aspects of socializing.
Feel them coming back into focus now.
Why you were there in the first place,
The conversations you will have,
The connections you will make.
Feel on a deep soul level the joy and what it really means and what you really want to experience and enjoy when you're socializing.
Sit with those feelings for a moment now.
Feel yourself strong,
Confident and empowered,
Full of strength,
Full of love for yourself,
Knowing what you know,
Knowing you can do this,
Knowing that socializing sober is the best,
Most enjoyable,
Most exciting thing.
Notice how good it feels when you get home and when you get home and take off your makeup,
Drink a nice soothing cup of tea and take it to bed.
Feel the joy in sinking in to your bed,
Relaxed,
Tired,
Happy,
Full of joy.
Boy,
You had such an amazing time and it feels so good here to arrive at bedtime,
Genuinely tired and relaxed and smiling as you sink in to your bed,
Having had the most amazing time.
Fully present,
Focus on how good that feels and allow those feelings of joy and contentment to wash over you now.
This is what it feels like to socialize sober.
This is what it feels like to live alcohol free and it feels so good.
In a moment I'm going to count from 10 up to one and with each count you will return to your usual state of awakeness and alertness,
Feeling calm and peaceful.
Your whole body will feel invigorated,
Alive and full of energy.
Full of energy,
You will feel strong,
Confident,
Happy and secure in your decision to be sober.
Strong,
Confident and happy and secure in your decision to live the best alcohol free life that you deserve.
