Welcome to this session.
The ebb and flow,
A conscious allowing of sadness.
Close your eyes and find a comfortable position,
Allowing yourself to gently sink into the present moment.
Take a deep breath in,
Feeling the air fill your lungs and exhale slowly,
Releasing any tension or tightness you may be holding onto.
As you continue to breathe deeply and rhythmically,
Bring your awareness to the sensation within the body.
Notice where you may be holding on to any emotional discomfort or sadness.
If you find yourself holding on,
Let that be as it is.
If you find there are emotions there,
You can let them be as they are.
Observe these sensations without judgement and completely allowing them to be present,
Without resistance.
If any resistance appears,
Simply allow that to be exactly as it is also.
Just for a short while,
Everything is allowed to be.
We've been taught that it's bad to feel emotions,
Especially emotions like sadness,
But intuitively we know it's okay to feel sad.
It's more than okay to feel sad.
Sadness,
Like any other emotion,
Is just the radiant beauty of your own being.
Emotions are like the ever-changing weather,
Constantly flowing and shifting within us.
Just as the rain nourishes the earth,
Your sadness is a natural part of your emotional landscape,
Enriching your inner world with depth and meaning.
Completely allow the feeling of sadness without trying to change it.
As you sit with your sadness,
Visualize it as a storm,
Powerful and intense,
And allow yourself to be the sky,
The infinite sky,
In which the storm appears.
Not only does the sky not have to do anything at all for the storm to dissipate,
The storm is made of sky,
Just like sadness is made of consciousness.
The storm cannot harm the sky,
Sadness cannot harm the being,
So we simply allow it to be as it is.
Let it rain,
Let it pour,
And feel the weight of your emotions flow through you.
Every tear,
Every ache,
Is a testament to your capacity for deep,
Authentic feeling.
There is a beauty in the vulnerability of your emotions,
A raw and gentle expression of your inner truth at a moment in time.
But who you are is timeless and has the capacity to hold space for all emotions in an internal embrace.
And as you allow yourself to feel these emotions,
You can allow yourself to release the need to understand or analyze your sadness.
Sadness just is.
Instead,
Bathe in the sadness,
Allow it to wash over you,
Surrendering to the ebb and flow of this emotion.
The more you let go of trying to control what you are feeling,
The more you will experience a sense of relief and acceptance.
Your sadness is not something to be fixed or avoided,
It is something to be felt fully,
Embracing it with total courage,
Total curiosity,
And total love.
The sadness is an integral part of the human experience,
A testament to the fullness of your heart,
And so we embrace the sadness,
And in doing so we embrace all aspects of ourselves as one.
Nothing is left out.
With each breath,
Feel your body soften and your mind settle as you welcome the presence of sadness fully.
It's okay,
It's okay,
It's okay.
Don't resist,
Don't resist,
Allow.
Feel the depth,
Feel the depth,
Feel the depth of your emotions.
You are held in compassion,
Surrounded by nurturing acceptance.
This is the nature of life.
As you continue to sit with your sadness,
Ask yourself,
If I'm happy to be sad,
Am I happy or sad?
We simply let go of all judgment of sadness,
How sadness impacts us,
How sadness feels,
And how sadness appears,
And how sadness leaves.
Remember,
Sadness is a beautiful expression of your capacity to feel,
To love,
And connect with the world around you.
Sadness can be caused when we unattach from situations,
Or things do not appear as we had hoped,
Or when we feel hard done by,
Or that we've lost something,
But all of this can be completely allowed in the stillness of your own being.
Allow the sadness to be a deep reflection of the rich tapestry of your being.
Every nuance,
Every shadow contributes to the beauty and complexity of who you are.
Breathe in this truth,
Exhale any lingering ideas of control,
And allow the sense of sadness to be completely free to do whatever it needs to do.
Allow the body's reaction to sadness to be exactly as it needs to be,
And to do whatever it needs to do.
Give the same permission to all of your bodily muscles,
They can flow and change and be however they need to be,
While you rest deeply in the stillness of being,
Allowing all to be as it is,
And in this open vast space of pure acceptance,
And allowing,
Allow the beauty of all of your emotions to unfold within you.
