A mantra is simply used as an anchor to help settle and focus your mind.

I invite you to take a comfortable upright position.

Close down your eyes and take a minute to settle in by taking a few deep cleansing breaths.

Take notice of how you feel in your mind and body.

Just allow your body to relax,

Feeling your muscles as they become soft and relaxed.

Notice any sensations throughout your body,

Expanding your awareness to your entire body.

Bring your awareness to your breathing,

Notice the depth and pace of your breathing.

Allow your breath to become slower,

Softer and deeper.

Feel your tummy rise on the inhale and contract on the exhale.

Feeling into the breath as it travels down into your stomach.

Stay connected to the sensations and feelings throughout the body,

Giving yourself permission to relax and let go.

We are now going to use the mantra So Hum,

A phrase comprised of two Sanskrit words.

The literal translations are I am that and that is the universe.

Begin to repeat the mantra So Hum to yourself silently,

Slowly sinking the rhythm of your breath to the mantra.

As you inhale,

Silently repeat the word So.

As you exhale,

Silently repeat the word Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

Continue breathing slowly and aligning your mantra to your breath,

Being careful not to rush your breath if you notice your mantra speeding up.

Each time you notice your mind wander,

Simply draw your attention back to your silent mantra and aligning the pace of your mantra to the pace of your breath.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

So Hum.

Slowly release your mantra and bring your attention back to your breath.

Take a moment to sit quietly for a minute to consider the meaning behind So Hum.

I am that.

Reflect on the concept that with every breath you take,

You are connecting to all living beings in the universe,

Taking in the very same expansive energy and in that space,

You are merging into one and the same,

Constantly and continuously supporting one another and the world around you.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes.
