Just take a moment to breathe,
Softening your breath,
And with each out-breath you relax a little more each time.
With each exhalation your shoulders drop a little more,
Your face softens.
This is time for you to let go.
Imagine now that you are sitting beside a small body of still,
Calm water.
The sun is shining down and you see in front of you a small rowing boat.
You step into the boat and start to row outwards,
Away from the bank.
It is entirely your choice where you row to.
It may be the other side of a river,
The middle of a lake,
Or you may be quite content being near the bank where you started.
This is your journey and your choice.
When you have gone as far as you wish,
You can stop rowing and push over the anchor.
Watch it plop into the water and gently go down and down until it is out of sight.
You are now secure in your spot and can bring up your oars into the boat.
There are lots of throws and comfy cushions in the boat with you to make yourself comfortable.
Do so as you wish and lay back in the boat so that you are laying down with your face up to the sky.
As you lay here under this beautiful blue sky,
You start to see various clouds above you,
Like soft balls of fluffy cotton wool and some delicate thin wisps of clouds,
So delicate that you can see bright blue sky through the formations.
You lay here for a while now,
Ever so gently,
Bobbing in your boat,
Watching as the clouds pass by.
And if any thoughts or feelings come up,
You can pop them on one of these clouds and watch as they gently move out of view,
Just gliding on by.
Spend some time now with the clouds and the sky,
Just you and the clouds.
Eventually you feel so at peace,
At one with the sky above you,
You start to feel yourself floating up,
Higher and higher you go.
You have become a bird and are now flying higher and higher and higher up to meet those clouds.
You are now soaring high in the sky looking down on your little boat.
The scene that you were once a part of has become small,
Insignificant.
You are up here high in the clouds and your destination is limitless.
You can choose to go wherever you wish,
As fast or as slow as you wish,
And with ease.
Just fly now,
Dear one,
To wherever your heart desires.
You can feel the breeze as you glide along effortlessly,
Your wings expanding wider and wider,
Just as your lungs expand wider and wider,
As your chest and your belly move gently in and out with your breath.
You now have such a sense of perspective that you can see all you need to see.
All is not quite as you had originally thought.
Everything looks so much clearer from up here.
Calmer somehow.
Peaceful.
Clearer.
And now it is time to come back down.
Oh,
So gently settling back down into your little rowing boat.
Come back to just laying down,
Looking back up at the sky and seeing how everything looks so different from this perspective.
Just take in time now to allow ease and peace into your being,
Before finally taking up your oars and rowing back to the riverbank.
Remember that you can come back here at any time you wish,
So you can get a different perspective on life.
Very gently now coming back to the here and now.
Starting to feel into your body,
Maybe wriggling some fingers or toes.
Having a sense of your body and its place in space.
And taking some nice,
Long,
Slow deep breaths.
And when you are ready,
Opening your eyes.
