In this practice, we will use counting the breath as an anchor. There is the sound of a bell to signify the start and end of the minute. I will guide you in and out of this simple, easy practice. A simple practice for beginners or those coming to practice with a beginner's mind.

Have an open curious approach,

Relax and enjoy this minute mindfulness.

Take a comfortable position,

Sitting or even standing in a reasonably upright position.

Allow both your feet to be in contact with the floor.

Gently feel that connection with the earth.

Allow your muscles to relax,

Particularly the muscles in your jaw and shoulders.

Let your eyes close or gently lower your gaze downwards.

Allow your awareness to go to your breath.

All you need to do is breathe and begin counting your breaths at the end of each out breath.

The object of this is not to try and breathe in any particular way,

Nor are you trying to breathe deeply or shallowly.

You are simply breathing and counting.

If your mind wanders away as it may do so,

Just notice and acknowledge where your awareness has gone and then gently bring it back to your breathing.

This is from a perspective of being rather than doing.

Non-striving,

Not trying to get somewhere,

Just allowing and counting and letting it happen.
