It's likely these thoughts have spread their energy,
Feel the weight of their pull,
But as you observe with a little space,
You can now see some good.
So open your eyes and let your gaze find something that wants to be seen,
Leaves in the wind,
Or something that's usually routine.
Now breathe in a breath that brings you right here,
Appreciation begins to rise for what your eyes see,
The way the light moves,
The feeling of sweet surprise.
Can you feel it move,
The darkness of your mood?
You're just a breath away from more joy in your day.
Now I wonder if you might,
Imagine what's gone right as you think about the past few days.
Or maybe you can smile as you think about your child or a friend who's given you some praise.
Let your focus expand from everything that's wrong,
So it now includes sparks of light.
What other blessings can you observe in your life,
The small ones as well as the bright?
Notice the cool spread as it lightens your head.
Feel waves of good as they shift your mood.
If you sit long enough,
You'll eventually find the stillness that exists inside.
It's always right here for you to remember everything's okay and you will be fine.
Now bring yourself back to the rhythm of your breath.
Choose one thing to take as you walk through your day,
Knowing that love is your home.
