Start out by sensing into our bodies.
Just feeling the sensations and the aliveness here.
Just noticing what it's like to be awake in this body right now.
And sensing where the body contacts the ground.
Anchoring ourselves here in the body.
Somewhere that you can sense.
Through the breath.
Some point where the body contacts the ground.
Just letting the sensation be a home base.
And you can keep returning your attention too.
And now as we're anchored with the body.
I'm going to open the attention to the sense of hearing.
Just notice what you can hear right now.
Notice you don't have to try and hear.
You can just sit here and be restfully awake.
And notice that hearing happens all on its own.
Recogning yourself as the space in which hearing happens.
Different sound waves arise and fall.
And where is the attention right now?
Gently guide it to be anchored with the body.
Sensing the breath or sensations against the ground.
And then opening the attention to hearing.
Then start to comfortable again.
Noticing the different sounds.
Can you notice a line between the sound and the hearer?
See if in your experience you can sense the distinction between the sound and the hearing of the sound.
Can you sense the difference between the sound and the hearer?
Notice where hearing happens.
Where does hearing seem to be taking place in your experience?
Not really your thoughts or ideas about where sounds come from.
Just the actual sense of hearing.
Where does that feel like it's happening?
Does it feel like it's happening way out there?
Does it kind of feel more like it happens here?
It's kind of in a spaceless place.
But we're not really controlling.
Hearing just happens all on its own.
We can remain restfully awake.
Just allow life to happen as it does.
Sensing ourselves as the whole space.
What kind of placeless place is the awareness in which sound and hearing arise and fall?
Can you sense the difference between the sound and the hearer?
And as we end this meditation,
Carry this connection with awareness,
Knowing yourself as the aware space in which experience happens.
Carry this connection into your next moments.
Engage with your next activities.
