The power of stillness to heal.
We allow so much to enter our minds,
To infiltrate our peace.
Our thoughts are far from quiet or calming most of the time.
To be in true presence often feels impossible.
Irrationally,
At the times that we feel the most mental chaos,
We often choose more scrolling,
More input of negative or even toxic content.
We numb ourselves with alcohol,
Or distract ourselves with food or meaningless conversations.
What we need instead is the exact opposite.
Though it feels like an act of tremendous strength to just stop everything at that moment,
To turn off the treadmill of life,
Stop the spiraling of our minds,
We can't imagine that it will feel better to just quietly sit with the hard emotions,
The anxiety,
The anger,
The fear,
The uncertainty.
We simply want peace,
But we also crave distraction in those moments,
Which we know only leads to more unsettled mental states and adds layers to the negative energy and emotions.
If we can bring ourselves to just make the first move,
To put down the phone,
Turn off the noise,
We will discover rewards beyond our imagination.
If we can do this,
Everything and everyone and every moment that comes into our presence afterwards will be lifted up rather than dragged down.
Faced with the question of whether we would rather live the rest of today in peace or with anxiety,
The answer is easy.
It just takes the first move to create silence for one minute.
And then we find the strength to sit for another and then another.
It becomes easier with every moment that passes as we allow all of the thoughts and emotions to come and to go.
All of the fears,
All of the sadness,
The anger,
To sit with it,
To watch it come in,
Feel our body,
Feel our minds.
We begin to seek more peace and more stillness.
The silence calms us,
Calms our anxiety,
Our racing thoughts.
We're able to release it,
Giving us freedom and ultimately joy.
If we allow ourselves to heal,
Give our bodies and minds stillness and the opportunity for freedom,
We will have a tool to use to unlock happiness anytime we need it,
Every time.
Allowing us to lead with conscious behaviors and conscious thoughts,
Being responsive and not reactive to those around us.
Close your eyes,

Bringing the body to stillness,
Every long out breath.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
On the next out breath,
Loosen the neck,
The skin around the eyes.
Breathing in.
Breathing in.
And on the out breath,
Releasing the fingers and toes.
The next breath in,
Feel a light entering the body.
On the out breath,
That light,
That stillness,
Flows through the body.
Breathing in.
Breathing out any negativity flowing out of the fingers and toes,
The light filling the body.
Breathing in light,
Slow breath out,
Releasing anxieties,
Releasing fears,
Releasing sadness.
Long,
Slow breath,
Deep into the abdomen.
On the next out breath,
Loosen the neck as you breathe out.
Breathing in,
Crystal clear water coming into our body,
Entering the head.
On the out breath,
Cleansing the body,
Going out of the fingers and toes,
Running through every part of us,
Releasing the thoughts of anxiety,
Cleansing us from our words,
Our actions,
Our sadnesses.
Breathing in,
A rush of cleansing,
Clear liquid,
Purifying us,
Emptying our minds,
Our body as we breathe out.
Allowing a shining,
Bright aura of peace,
Of calm,
Of stillness.
Continue these breaths,
Cleansing,
Clearing,
Purifying our body and our mind.
Cleansing us of shame,
Of worry,
Of guilt,
Of sadness.
When we breathe in the next time,
We allow a small smile to develop.
When we breathe out,
We feel that joy run through our body.
Continuing our breaths,
We allow for the stillness,
Embracing the calm,
The happiness,
The peace,
The emptiness of mind,
The pureness of spirit,
Our joy and our love for ourself emerges with each cleansing breath,
The peace of presence,
The power of stillness,
Our shoulders released from any grip,
Our soft smile reflecting the calm of our mind.
Sit,
My love,
In silence,
In soft breaths,
For this moment is precious.
When we start to re-engage with life,
We'll keep this peace-filled internal presence with us.
This investment of time will give us exponential rewards every single time we honor ourselves in this way.
