Okay now,
I'll be taking this short period of time to elicit what's called the relaxation response,
The healing response.
So taking a comfortable position,
You can sit in a chair with your spine supported.
You can lie down on your bed or on a sofa,
Uncross your legs and your fingers,
And begin to take a few slower,
Deeper breaths,
Inhaling,
Filling up your lungs,
And exhaling,
Letting the breath go,
And allowing your body to relax with each exhale,
Because the exhalation is the breath of relaxation,
Of letting go,
And allowing your body to relax as you breathe,
As you breathe out,
Allowing your jaw to soften,
Letting there be space between the upper and lower teeth,
The lips and the tongue are soft,
Allowing the whole face to smooth out from that center of relaxation you've created by loosening your jaw,
Sending a ripple of relaxation over your face,
And up into that space between your eyes,
A place we often unconsciously hold tension,
Allowing that to smooth out,
That the forehead is soft,
The temples and the cheeks,
And the eyes gently come to close,
And you can even feel your breath right there at the nostrils,
A subtle sensation of coolness as you inhale,
Of warmth as you exhale.
That's right.
And even the tiny muscles of the scalp can relax.
And your ears can relax,
Just letting sounds come and go.
Even the brain can become softer,
As the brainwaves slow,
A sign of deepening relaxation.
That's right.
And allowing that relaxation in your head to flow down into your whole body,
Because when the face is relaxed,
The whole body can relax.
So the neck and the throat are relaxing.
All those muscles in the neck and the throat beginning to loosen and let go.
And down into your shoulders,
Letting the shoulders gently release down and back.
And of course,
From time to time,
There will be thoughts going through your mind,
And that's okay.
We all have busy minds.
But allowing your attitude to simply be one of,
Oh well,
And coming back to the relaxation,
To the sound of my voice,
So that the thoughts can come and go without holding,
Without identifying.
And you can even notice how your shoulders gently drop with each exhale.
And have you noticed how your breathing has changed?
And that relaxation flows down into the upper arms,
Through the elbows,
Into the forearms,
And down into the fingers,
The hands and the fingers.
Soft,
Letting go.
And maybe already beginning to feel a little tingling in your fingers as you relax.
And now the whole chest,
Softening and opening as you breathe.
And relaxing down into your heart.
Letting the heart relax.
And the lungs cradling your heart.
Expanding and contracting.
Expanding and contracting.
In tune and in time with the fundamental rhythm of the universe.
And you are a part of that.
You are one with that.
And allowing that relaxation to flow down into the belly now.
The whole abdomen and all the muscles and organs there.
Relaxing.
Relaxing.
And the whole back.
The upper back,
Releasing.
Middle back,
Softening.
Lower back.
Letting go.
As even the spine,
The energy of the spine,
Can relax.
That's right.
And down into the hips and pelvis.
And all the muscles and organs there are relaxing into harmonious balance.
Harmonious hormonal balance.
And relaxing down into the upper legs now.
The long muscles of the thighs,
Letting go.
The knees can relax.
And the shins and calves,
Relaxing all the way down through the ankles,
Into the feet and the toes.
That's right.
The whole body now.
Your whole body.
Relaxing.
Safe and comfortable.
It's safe to relax.
It's safe to let go for a while.
And in this gentle quietness and stillness,
Your body's own natural healing abilities are greatly accelerated.
Because within each one of us,
Within you,
Tremendous powers of self-healing.
Within you are tremendous powers of self-healing.
Down to your very genes.
Your genetic expression is now in the healing mode.
Resting,
Repairing,
Restoring any parts of your body that are in need of healing.
This power is within you as you learn to relax.
There's nothing you have to do except to relax.
Relax.
And healing happens automatically.
That's right.
And you can bring your awareness to any part of your body that is in need of healing.
Or simply imagining your body fully healed.
Imagining your body fully healed.
Complete wellness.
Energy,
Vitality,
And the joy of life restored in every part of your body.
In every one of your cells.
But you're all in this healing mode now.
This is happening within you right now.
And with your powerful mind,
Mind,
You intensify your healing.
It accelerates.
It's more efficient and effective.
And any medications and treatments and procedures that you're going through,
Or have gone through,
Or will be going through,
With the power of your mind,
