Hello lovely human,
Welcome to the flow calm still sleepcast.
A quiet space for busy minds and tired nervous systems to unwind.
My name is Linz and I'm your guide for tonight's sleep story.
Take a few moments to get comfy,
There's no rush,
This time is yours.
And there's no pressure to fall asleep,
Deep rest might be just what your body needs.
Close your eyes,
Take a breath and let yourself rest.
The world has softened,
The noise of the day drifting further and further away.
And this time,
This gentle pocket of time is just for you.
Let the breath leave you softly,
Like a sigh at the end of a long day.
Now notice how the surface beneath you is already holding the full weight of your body as you begin to settle yourself in.
The surface beneath you holds you,
Cradles you.
Let gravity be your friend,
Drawing your body downwards so your bones,
Muscles,
Body and mind can relax.
Muscles softening,
The limbs growing warm and heavy,
Your forehead smoothing like water and the tiny muscles around your eyes can loosen as you relax your jaw,
Allowing the tongue to rest in the back of the throat,
Your shoulders releasing their quiet grip on the day,
Melting slowly downwards,
Arms can rest beside you,
Your chest rising slowly,
Falling slowly,
The breath moving like a gentle tide that knows exactly where it's going.
And as your breath naturally begins to deepen,
The body softens more and more.
Something inside you begin to drift,
Allowing thoughts to pass through the mind like clouds moving across a wide evening sky,
The body just drifting,
Breathing and resting.
And somewhere in the quiet of this drifting we begin our journey to this evening's sanctuary,
The meadow.
In your mind's eye you begin to see a gentle winding path appear.
You notice tall grasses swaying softly in the warm evening air,
Small lanterns glowing along the edge of the path,
Guiding you to where you're about to go.
The golden light of the lanterns flicker like distant stars.
It's hard to describe but the air here feels calm and unhurried,
Safe even.
You move slowly along the lantern path,
Each step soft beneath your feet,
The grasses brushing at your ankles lightly as you walk slowly down the path.
One step at a time.
You notice your shoulders drop away from your ears and your arms sway to the gentle rhythm of each step by the sides of your body and any stress leaving your fingertips,
All your cares and worries start to melt away.
The evening breeze carries the scent of wild flowers,
Soft and sweet.
Sometimes you catch a hint of rose and sometimes it's something like fresh mint.
Sometimes the faint warmth of the sun warmed earth.
And slowly,
Very slowly,
The lantern path opens into a wide peaceful meadow that seems to go on forever.
Wild flowers scattered through the tall grass like pieces of colour resting in the fading light,
Soft sage greens and tranquil powdered blues,
Warm creams and soft blush pinks.
As you look up the sky above is stretching wide,
Far,
It's open and inviting.
Soft clouds drifting lazily across the evening sky as the late of the day begins to blend in with the early evening.
And there,
Waiting quietly in the centre of the meadow is a hanging chair that sways gently in the breeze,
Woven from pale white threads that look almost like clouds,
It's as if the chair is suspended softly above the earth,
Swaying slowly back and forth,
Back and forth.
It's so inviting,
You settle into the chair,
Drawing your legs up comfortably.
The soft cradle of the chair holding you with ease as you release the weight of your body into the plump cushions beneath you.
And as you rest there,
The chair begins its slow gentle rhythm,
It feels calming,
Soothing and safe,
Rocking softly like the quiet breathing of the evening itself.
All around you the meadow sways,
Wild flowers moving in the breeze,
Like a wave of calm from the earth beneath,
Their colours begin to soften in the peaceful fading of the day of light.
The scent of the flowers drifting through the air,
Each breath carrying something new.
The grasses whisper quietly,
Like a long soft breath that makes the field seem quietly alive.
The bees humming lazily somewhere among the blooms and now and then a small friendly animal moves gently through the meadow,
A rabbit passing softly through the tall grass,
A cat stretching in the warmth of the evening,
A dog wandering slowly through the flowers.
They seem calm here,
An inviting space of rest,
Everything is so peaceful as though this meadow has always been a place of safety,
A place of quietness,
A place to relax.
Some of the animals wander closer to you,
Drawn by the quiet stillness of the sanctuary.
They pause beside the chair,
Bowing their heads gently,
You reach down slowly,
Your hand brushing against the warm soft fur,
A quiet moment of connection,
A quiet moment of settling.
The chair continues its slow rhythm,
Back and forth,
Back and forth.
The lanterns glow softly amongst the distant path,
The sky above slowly deepening as the evening settles over the meadow and everything starts to become still and quiet.
As you look up you notice the first stars beginning to appear,
Tiny glimmers of light scattering across the quiet sky.
Time feels different here,
Moments stretching wide and slow,
The seconds lose their edges,
Dissolving into an unbroken evening glow.
Perhaps only a moment has passed,
Perhaps much longer,
But in this sanctuary it doesn't matter,
There's nowhere to go,
Nothing to do.
You instinctively know this is about rest,
The chair rocking gently beneath you,
The meadow breathing slowly around you,
Your body now feels completely at ease,
Your heart beats quietly and your lungs breathe slowly,
Your mind drifting softly,
The sanctuary is holding you in its calm embrace,
A place you know will always be here for you whenever you need it.
You notice the breeze grows softer now,
You can feel it against your skin,
It feels warm and soothing,
The grasses are moving more slowly,
The animals settling quietly among the flowers as they gently close their eyes,
Their breathing softens.
As you look up,
You notice that the sky becomes deeper,
Warmer,
More inviting,
As if the night sky starts to blend with the meadow itself.
As you continue to rest here,
Held gently above the meadow in your swinging egg chair,
I will slowly begin to fade away,
To give you some peace and quiet.
You can rest safely in this peaceful place,
The meadow will remain,
The warm evening air touches your skin,
The soft lantern light fading slowly,
The quiet rhythm of the flowers in the grasses becomes quieter and quieter,
The sanctuary will always be here,
Waiting quietly for you.
And now,
As you drift more and more,
I will say goodnight,
Rest well,
Lovely human.
