Hi,
This is Manel.
Welcome to the rediscovering the joy of the holidays meditation.
The intention of this meditation is to guide you towards recognizing the patterns that may be keeping you from experiencing the best of the holidays and invoking your five senses to connect with joy,
Celebration and pleasure.
December is such a beautiful festive month full of beautiful holidays,
Celebrations,
Traditions,
Family,
Friends,
Food,
Drink,
Activity.
And although it is a month of celebration,
It is also a month that invokes significant amount of stress,
Anxiety,
Expectations and overall lack of joy in some people.
These feelings typically come from living in the past or projecting to the future and not being present in what you are doing.
There is an antidote for this and this antidote is being fully present.
Invoking any of your five senses is an effective way to become present at any time.
I will guide you through connecting with your senses as a tool to become present this holiday season.
And let us begin.
We will start with the sense of touch.
Become aware of the physical sensations in your body.
Feel the weight or texture of anything that you may be wearing.
Use your hands to enjoy the feel of an object or item that you are wearing,
Holding or close to.
Focus on the sense and the sensations of your fingers and hands.
I will pause a moment for you to enjoy the physical sensations from connecting through your physicality.
Breathe still and see if you can feel your sense of touch without moving.
And I will call you back.
Wonderful We are using our eyes all day.
However,
How much are you really seeing?
Your sense of sight is a beautiful way to become present.
Looking around and truly seeing the beauty around you.
What do you truly see?
Focusing on a single point is also an effective and powerful way to focus,
To become present.
If your eyes are closed,
Keep them closed and connect with the colors that you can see at the back of your eyelids.
Perhaps you see black,
Light or even color.
I will pause a moment to give you the opportunity to amplify your feeling of presence,
Invoking your sense of sight,
Even with your eyes closed.
There are always sounds all around us.
During the holiday,
The sounds of your family,
Friends,
Background noises,
Fans,
Sounds from the outdoors,
Kids,
Adults,
Any sound can be something that you can stop and really focus on to become present.
Any noise can become music and meditative when you stop and fully connect with your sense of hearing.
Working with your sense of hearing creates a beautiful pause in any moment to become fully present.
I will pause a moment to give you the opportunity to engage the power of your sense of hearing to guide you to an enhanced sense of being.
Oh,
The wonderful gift of taste,
The pleasure of food,
The pleasure of drink,
While eating and drinking.
If you really take the time to savor the food or drink you are enjoying,
You immediately become fully present.
That is why we are attracted to flavor and bitter and spicy foods.
It is a very powerful way to attract our attention and to become fully present.
Take a moment to feel what your mouth tastes like.
Have you eaten recently?
Are there any distinct flavors or tastes in your mouth?
You do not need to be eating to invoke your sense of taste to guide you to be present.
I will pause to give you the space to invoke your sense of taste.
And lastly,
The beautiful sense of smell,
Particularly in the holidays and particularly in the kitchen,
Enjoying the aroma of special meals cooking,
Baked goods,
Coffee brewing.
Connect,
Focus and become present through your sense of smell.
Invoke your sense of smell right now.
What do you smell?
Or is there no particular aroma?
What does no smell smell like?
I will pause a moment to give you the opportunity to amplify your feeling of being through your sense of smell.
As the holidays unfold,
Enjoy yourself.
Catch yourself if you are not fully present and recognize that you have the power to reconnect at any time by simply becoming present through invoking any one of your powerful five senses.
You may find that it is easier to leverage some of your senses over others.
Wonderful!
Gravitate to what comes naturally until you build your muscles in all five senses.
Happy holidays to you!
Celebrate the holidays.
Celebrate this joyous human experience.
Celebrate your family.
Celebrate your friends.
Celebrate yourself.
My love,
Always.
