I'm going to welcome you.
In the next few minutes,
I'm going to guide you through some breathing technique.
I call it technique,
But it's just breathing.
It's just you and me sharing this space together.
It is early in the morning for me.
But whatever time of day you happen to be listening to this share,
I welcome you.
I want to begin by asking you to get into a safe place where you are able to close your eyes for a few moments.
Whether you are at your office,
In your car and parking lot,
Or sitting on the edge of your bed,
Getting ready to go to sleep.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your arms.
Relax your hands gently on the tops of your thighs,
Palms facing upwards.
I want you to concentrate on your spine,
Straight and strong,
Holding you upright.
Feel your shoulders drop away from your ears.
Feel your upper back strong.
Feel your neck stretch ever so slightly,
Getting taller.
I want you to breathe at your own pace.
But with each inhale,
Feel your body getting taller.
With each inhale,
Feel the top of your head get even closer to the sky.
With each exhale,
Empty your lungs completely.
In our busy lives,
We often forget to exhale as long as we should,
Not only releasing the air that we do not need,
The emotions that no longer serve us.
But each exhale is also a gift.
A gift of your energy out into the world.
Every time you exhale,
Think,
I love you.
You can bring a particular person into mind when you say,
I love you.
Or you can imagine that that breath,
That breath of love that you exhale into the world,
Is traveling,
Is touching so many people,
So many beautiful trees,
Mountains,
Oceans,
Your breath is a gift to the world.
But it also returns to you.
That breath touches others and returns with your inhale.
Allow your whole body to absorb and appreciate the love and energy that you put out into the world and all the love and energy that other people are sending to you.
Drink up the love that is available to you.
Every cell in your body is nourished.
Your hands,
Your hands are relaxed in your lap.
Notice the energy that is in your palms and your fingertips.
Gently bring your hands up to your heart.
Cross one hand over the other,
Feeling the energy of your heart beating.
Relax your shoulders.
Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground beneath you,
The same ground that my feet are on right now.
We are connected.
We are sharing this space together.
My breath is transporting love and energy to you.
I want to invite you to raise your arms,
Palms facing each other above your head,
Arms as straight as you can.
Your hands do not need to touch,
But feel the energy in your fingertips reach up as your shoulders relax.
Relax your shoulders.
Feel that energy between your palms above your head.
Feel a gentle stretch in your spine.
Feel your hips keeping you firmly planted in your chair.
Feel your legs strong as they stabilize you in your seat.
Gently lower your arms and bring your hands into prayer position,
Palms facing each other touching in front of your heart.
Take a big breath in through your nose.
Pause.
Relax your shoulders.
Enjoy the stillness of not breathing for a moment.
Still.
Exhale.
Pause.
Inhale through your nose.
Pause.
Relax your shoulders as you pause and enjoy the stillness.
Exhale.
If you feel like it,
Allow a gentle smile to grace your fist.
You are amazing.
You are such a gift to this world and every breath you take is so important.
