Hello,
And welcome to this meditation for relaxation.
Begin by sitting in an upright but relaxed position.
Drop your gaze to your lap or gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and an audible exhale out.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Just sitting quietly,
Allowing your body to relax.
When we simply sit and breathe,
It activates our body's calming response.
It allows the brain to display the calm,
Smooth and harmonious waves called the alpha brainwaves.
Like the waves of the ocean coming into the shore and rolling back out.
Coming in and going out.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Relax.
Drop your shoulders.
Relax the jaw.
Relax the space between your eyebrows.
Allow your mind to float freely until it settles down.
Let the thoughts come and go as they please.
When you notice them,
Just gently bring your attention back to your breath.
Don't exert your energy by trying to block the thoughts.
Just remain passive and remind your body that we're just sitting.
We're just breathing.
We're just relaxing.
Right now,
We're just relaxing,
Staying quietly,
Calm with your breath like the waves of the ocean.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Letting the thoughts wash in and letting them fade off into the background.
Relax.
To be still.
To be quiet.
To be at ease and to feel at peace.
This is the gift of relaxation.
Allow yourself to stay here for as long as you like,
Settling in deeper and deeper.
We're slowly bringing yourself back to the space.
Begin to roll the neck,
The shoulders,
Wiggle the fingers,
Open the eyes.
