Welcome,
This is Natalie.
This practice is an invitation to slow down with your nervous system.
Not to fix anything,
But rather to rest inside yourself.
If you've been holding a lot,
If your system feels tired,
Guarded,
Or tense,
This is a space where nothing is asked of you.
Let's begin.
Find a position that feels genuinely supportive for your body.
You may be lying down or sitting comfortably.
Let your weight be received by the surface beneath you.
Notice where your body is already being held.
The back of your body,
The hips,
The legs,
The shoulders.
You don't need to relax on purpose.
Just notice where gravity is already doing the work for you.
Take a slow breath in through the nose and let it leave gently through the mouth.
Again,
In and a soft,
Unforced exhale.
With each breath,
Allow your system to register.
There is no urgency here.
Now,
Bring your awareness to a neutral area of your body.
This might be your hands,
Your lower legs,
Or the back of your body resting against the floor or chair.
Choose a place that doesn't carry emotional weight,
Just sensation.
Notice what is there.
Temperature,
Pressure,
Subtle movement,
And a soft,
Unforced exhale.
Don't try to focus too much.
Just gently laying your attention on that neutral area of your body.
If thoughts come,
That's okay.
Let them pass through the background while your awareness stays gently anchored here.
Stay for a few breaths.
And now,
Gently shift your awareness.
Let go of the area you were resting with before.
And bring your attention to the chest area.
Not to feelings,
Not to any meaning of the chest area,
Just to the physical space of the chest.
Notice the front of the chest,
The sides,
The space beneath the breastbone.
Feel how the breath moves here,
The subtle expansion on the inhale,
The soft settling on the exhale.
Now allow this awareness of the chest to become a place you rest into.
Imagine this area as an inner home.
It's not something you have to create,
But something that has always been there.
A place inside you that doesn't require effort,
Clarity,
Or strength.
Some people experience this space,
The heart space,
As something sacred,
A deeply held inner room where you're received exactly as you are.
A space that knows how to hold you without asking you to change,
Explain,
Or improve yourself.
There is a sense of dignity here,
A sense of depth as if this place remembers you even when you forget yourself.
You don't need to picture anything clearly,
Just sense the quality of this place,
Still,
Warm,
Present.
If it helps,
You might imagine a gentle,
Steady warmth,
Like being indoors while the world rests outside.
Nothing enters here that doesn't belong.
Nothing is demanded.
Let yourself stay.
Remain in the inner home of your heart space for a few more breaths.
Let your nervous system absorb the experience of safety without effort.
Notice how the rest of the body responds when the heart is allowed to rest.
There is nothing to hold on to.
Nothing to remember.
Just letting this quality settle in its own time.
Slowly begin to widen your awareness.
Notice the whole body again.
The space around you,
The surface beneath you.
Gently move your fingers and toes.
If you like,
Softly glide your thumb across the tips of your other fingers,
One by one,
Feeling the warmth and texture here.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Remember,
This inner home is not something you visit once.
It's a place you can return to again and again,
Especially when life feels demanding.
Thank yourself for taking this time.
