So I want to share a quote with you.
That from one perspective.
Draw us in too.
A morbid place.
But when we open up.
To the totality of it.
It can help us.
Not only get through tough times but to do it where we show up for ourselves.
In a deeper,
More compassionate way and show up for other people.
In a deeper and more compassionate way.
And the quote is this.
Although the world is full of suffering,
It's also full of the overcoming of it.
So it's Helen Keller's quote.
Although the world is full of suffering,
It's also full of the overcoming of it.
Although the world is full of suffering,
Oh there we go,
Straight down into that rabbit hole.
The brain is wired to look for the problems and to.
Actually need to find out more about the things that are not.
Are bad,
Right,
That are problematic.
That's just the nature of how we've evolved.
We also have an amazing capacity to recognize this,
To recognize the tendency of our brains,
The fact that we've evolved this way to do that and to say,
Hey,
I'm a conscious being.
Having human experiences.
Yes,
Just like everyone else,
I get caught up in difficult thoughts and feelings from time to time.
And I get caught up in a struggle,
And in a struggle which is what Helen Keller meant by the suffering.
Although the world is full of suffering,
It's also full of the overcoming of it.
I also like to use this phrase in almost all of my live events.
We disconnect so that we can reconnect.
We disconnect into automatic thinking patterns that don't serve us.
We disconnect.
Caught up.
In a storm of reactivity or whatever it might be,
Or we might be feeling really flat and low in mood or whatever it is,
We disconnect.
And get hooked by those difficult moments.
Thoughts,
Feelings,
Sensations and urges that we all experience to a greater or lesser extent,
Right?
We disconnect so that we can reconnect again.
When we disconnect,
The mind goes,
Oh,
There you go.
You've done it again.
What's the point?
What's the point in drawing on these resources?
They don't work.
You just keep going back to how it was.
You've fallen back.
No no no no thank you mind i know that you're designed to focus on the problems and to give me those types of narrative but I am a conscious being having a human experience and as I choose to notice you,
I am showing up for myself as this conscious being having a human experience for those people that spirituality is at their heart.
I'm a spiritual being having a human experience,
Whatever you prefer.
I'm a conscious being having a human experience.
I disconnect,
Yes,
And then I come back to myself with myself.
For myself.
For myself again.
And that's so important.
So,
So important.
I hope that you can find.
.
.
What you need.
And the first step.
Validation.
Our society is not built to.
.
.
Educate us about validation and we're not.
The default mode of the mind is not to.
Give ourselves that validation.
It's the opposite.
And validation is so important.
The acknowledgement.
The acknowledgement.
You might know one or two people in your life.
That can hold the space for you,
You might hold the space for them.
You know what I mean by that is being able to be there without trying to fix it.
You're just there with them.
Saying the odd thing or maybe even in in the silence sometimes,
Right?
Validation can be the first step.
And if you're going through a tough time right now,
I recommend doing my course called This Tough Life.
This tough life.
And that can sound morbid,
Can't it?
It's not the usual type of course that's like,
You know,
How to.
.
.
Do x,
Y,
And z.
Think positively,
How to feel better or whatever it might be,
Right?
Good intention behind that.
But actually what we need to recognize is that this life is tough and I am here for me.
And I can be there for me and the more I am there for me.
The better I get at it.
The more those neural templates in my brain.
Get thicker and stronger for me showing up for myself.
And getting validated is the first step.
So day one of this tough life is basically saying goodbye.
Have you got your headphones?
Do you want to go for a walk?
Do you want to lie down?
Give yourself this moment.
I've also got some playlists when times are tough.
If that resonates and some other ones as well,
You know,
Validations for tough times and things like that.
Anyway.
I really,
Truly want you to.
Have the message that I spoke of just now.
Because.
I'm hoping that right here and now.
This very moment as you're listening.
It resonated with you in a way.
Where the words go in a little deeper and you have that experience of It lightens the load a little bit.
Cause you deserve that.
Yes,
You do.
You totally do.
It's hard being human.
But you're a conscious being having human experiences.
And this is how we can honor it,
Right?
This is how we can honor ourselves.
Anyway,
You take care,
Hope the video's been helpful.
