My name is Salina Layal.
I am a transformational coach and an international teacher.
And today I'm going to introduce a body scan.
A body scan is a simple yet very powerful mindfulness practice that helps bring our awareness back to the present moment through our bodily sensations.
So much of our day is spent in our minds,
Thinking,
Planning,
Worrying,
Remembering,
And often carrying stress without even realizing it.
The body scan invites us to pause.
And gently reconnect with ourselves.
During this practice,
We slowly move our attention through different areas of the body.
Simply noticing what's present.
There's nothing to change,
Fix,
Or analyze.
We are only observing with curiosity and a sense of kindness even.
As we bring our awareness to the body,
We often begin to notice the places where we are holding tension,
Stress.
Emotion and fatigue.
And through the simple act of this awareness,
The body is often able to soften and even release tension.
A body scan can help calm the nervous system,
Reduce stress and anxiety,
Improve sleep,
Increase self-awareness,
Strengthen the connection between the mind and the body.
It can also help us become more attuned to our needs.
Our emotions,
And our whole inner world.
Many people spend years living from the neck up disconnected from the wisdom of the body.
And this practice offers the opportunity to return home,
To listen,
To feel,
And to reconnect.
The body is always communicating with us.
And a body scan helps us slow down long enough to hear what it has been trying to say.
