If you were born into a family like mine that crushed and feared strong emotional expression, it is likely that emotional numbing is a debilitating issue. It was a destructive force in my life. I often felt dead inside. I was hyper-reactive, over-sensitive and chronically irritated. Consequences of disconnecting from your emotions involve mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual issues.
