Welcome to our meditation,
Be Free of the Past.
Begin by finding a comfortable seat and close your eyes.
Or if you want to keep your eyes open,
Find a focal point to concentrate on.
Start by taking a deep breath in and say the word be and a slow cleansing breath out saying the word free.
Please continue your calming breaths and repeating our mantra,
Be free,
As you listen to my words.
Be free of the past,
Your past.
Many times our past comes back to haunt us.
There are missed opportunities,
Unrequited loves,
Arguments that have divided families,
Forbidden love affairs,
Or any negative,
Painful happening that is better left in our past.
Yes,
That's easy to say and very hard to live.
But if we stay in the past,
We really aren't living.
The negative self-talk will take over our minds,
Our feelings,
Our whole mood,
And keep us from living in this moment.
Keep us locked in our past misery.
We need to stop the snowball effect of what ifs and if onlys.
That doesn't matter anymore.
The past is over,
Gone,
Never to return.
We need to stay in the here and now,
This very moment.
It's all we have.
Then we need to make it the best moment.
Feel every sensation of this moment.
Hear every sound.
Taste the moment.
Touch the moment.
Bring all your senses alive right now.
To be fully present is the only way to be fully alive.
Even mundane events like brushing our teeth or washing the clothes will take on a whole new meaning if we are actually in that moment.
The past is a hard thing to break free of.
It creeps up on you and takes over your thoughts and ruins your day.
But if as soon as we realize a past thought is trying to take over,
We just need to acknowledge the thought and see it for what it is and then let it pass.
Don't fight the thought.
Just let it go on its way.
These thoughts may make you feel anxious,
Sad,
Angry or hurt,
But they are just thoughts.
You've already made it past these painful situations.
You survived and now you're here in this moment with me,
Just breathing and staying in the moment.
You are stronger than your past and it's time to break the chains and be free of your past.
Simply open your eyes and take a moment to regroup and center your thoughts.
Now when you're ready,
Continue your day by staying in the moment and being mindful of each event no matter how simple.
Let the past go.
You don't live there anymore.
Be free.
