This meditation is intended for times of transformation,
Times of big changes in your life.
And when we are going through lots of change,
Can tend to feel a lot of anxiety and self-doubt.
Makes sense,
We're outside of our comfort zone.
So today we'll explore this through the eyes of a butterfly and perhaps find some peace and calm in the midst of whatever transformation you are experiencing.
Let's begin.
Take a comfortable seat,
Lengthen your spine,
Take a deep breath in.
As you exhale,
Bring your awareness to the base of your spine.
Just begin to allow yourself to settle,
Allow your breath to become long and even.
Begin to imagine yourself walking through a garden,
A beautiful garden filled with flowers.
Notice your feet,
Bare feet in the grass,
This coolness of the ground,
The earth below.
Allow your body to arrive in this space,
Beginning to feel calm.
Feel the sun on your skin,
Beautiful blue sky,
Puffy clouds.
Take in the scene.
As you walk through this garden,
Flies everywhere.
They're beautiful colors,
They're beautiful wings,
So graceful as they float through the air.
You notice the butterflies pausing from time to time and beautiful flowers.
The butterfly didn't begin in this beautiful,
Graceful state.
And much like yourself,
It went through great transformation to arrive here.
As you step closer to the flowers,
Your gaze rests on a single chrysalis,
Sparkling in the sun with its iridescent cover.
Imagine yourself wrapped securely in a cocoon for the duration of your transformation.
Feel the safety.
Allow your body to rest and settle within the safety of this cocoon.
Feel yourself feeling secure,
Knowing that you are embarking and it is safe to transform.
Allow yourself the space,
The time.
There is no rush.
There is no hurry.
Within the safety of this cocoon,
You allow yourself to change.
Feel this in your body.
Breathe deeply as you settle in.
And now,
Very gradually,
The cocoon begins to break open.
Emerge,
Hold,
And not at your full strength.
There is no rush.
There is no hurry.
As you climb out of the cocoon,
You pause to rest and spread your wings.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Your wings slowly open and close with your breath.
There is no anxiety.
There is no fear.
As you allow your wings to strengthen,
Allow the beauty,
Their full beauty,
Their full beauty to be revealed.
As they're revealed,
Your truth is revealed as well.
In its fullest potential,
It is stunning.
Breath in,
Wings open and close.
They're building strength now.
There's a deep inner knowing when the time is exactly right to take flight.
And eventually,
When the time is right,
You gracefully float from the branches that you emerged,
Sailing through the air,
The most beautiful butterfly,
Free,
Completely untethered in your fullest potential.
Feel this in your body.
Imagine how it feels to step into your truth and be free.
No fear,
No self-doubt.
Only inner knowing that this is your soul's path.
Have been beautifully transformed of your deepest self.
It is said if you place a wish on the wings of a butterfly,
It goes straight to the ear of God.
So now as you watch yourself as a beautiful butterfly,
Place your deepest desire,
Your wish on the wings of that butterfly.
Now as you watch yourself as a butterfly flying away,
Find yourself back in the garden as if waking from a dream.
Seeing all the butterflies around you,
Feeling revitalized,
A sense of peace and grace and freedom.
Take a deep breath in from the base of your spine,
All the way to the crown of your head,
Expanding through the lungs and the heart.
Place your hands on your heart.
Exhaling completely.
Cleansing breath from the base of your spine,
Through your heart to the crown of your head and exhale completely.
Return to your space,
Your body,
Slowly and gradually open your eyes.
When you are ready.
