Plants are our guardians, our collaborators, our friends. But how well do we really know kin? Did you know that in addition to the same five senses humans have, plants have another 15 senses? In this 6-part series, Tigrilla Gardenia, with music by Spider plant, helps you sense the world like a plant, and in the process, expand your own senses. This course can be done with any plant, indoors or out. Even better, try it several times with different plants. Explore Plant Taste.

Here we are for the third part of Expand Your Senses with Plant Music.

As you're probably used to by now,

Spider Plant and I will start by inviting you to find a plant of your choosing to help you through this journey.

And make sure you have writing and coloring materials close to capture what comes to you.

By this time you should be used to ki and kin as plant pronouns.

I hope the use of these terms is helping you connect more deeply with plant people.

This practice will allow you to connect with plant taste.

Just as our tongues contain receptors for different taste molecules in food,

Plants contain receptors for different soluble molecules that allow kin to taste nutrients.

To begin with,

Sit comfortably and slowly close your eyes.

Shift your focus to the music of Spider Plant.

Start to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,

Deep and slow.

Ahhhhhh Ahhhhhh By breathing in you bring in new energy.

And when you breathe out you let go of what may keep you from being fully present here and now.

Now bring your attention to every part of your physical body.

Continue breathing deep and slow.

And adjust whatever it is you need to relax your body from head to toe.

Ahhhhhh Ahhhhhh Release your breathing now.

Let it go back to its natural rhythm,

Breathing in and out through your nose.

Connect with your center wherever you feel that is in your body.

And from this place of silence and love,

Kindly ask the plant you chose,

Or the chose you,

To help you experience the way plants taste.

As you open yourself more and more to this connection,

You feel yourself pulled into the plant's roots,

Surrounded by soil and water.

This is where you'll stay throughout this journey.

You notice the plant starts to absorb special substances below ground.

They're nutrients and Ki is identifying them by taste.

So you gently ask for the plant's help to sense the taste of each nutrient,

One by one.

Start with the first one.

What does it taste like?

It's okay if you can't find words to describe it right now.

Just open yourself to the experience.

Now you and the plant go to another kind of nutrient.

Once more,

What does it taste like?

Do you feel the soil has a taste that could be the combination of all the nutrients present?

A little bit like the ingredients in a dish combining to give it a unique flavor.

Take your time to capture these sensations.

By now,

You're ready to go deeper.

Ask the plant to show you more of the precious elements of information Ki receives through the roots,

Through taste.

What information is the plant receiving from other plants nearby through taste?

And what information is being received from above ground,

Carried by the water as it washes down through the atmosphere,

Coming into contact with air particles,

Plants,

Parts and animals,

Then entering the soil straight to the roots.

Begin to prepare yourself to end this experience by taking a nice deep breath.

Allow yourself to integrate everything you have received so you can recall it later.

Still with your eyes closed,

Send your gratitude to the plant who has worked with you so openly and generously,

Receiving any last messages the plant wants to share.

When you feel ready,

Slowly open your eyes.

Take paper and pen and capture everything that has come to you during this practice.

Let it flow from you directly to the paper with no filter.

You'll have the chance to analyze it later with the help of your true nature who can interpret the plant languages used.

Thank you for your presence and we'll meet again soon for the fourth part of the Expand Your Senses with Plant Music series.

Next up,

Plant Smell.
