Research shows that people who regularly take time during their day for gratitude are much happier and less depressed than those who do not engage in gratitude practices. Take time each day, before taking an iRest nap, or before going to sleep at night, to reflect on and even write in your journal 1-3 things that you're grateful for and why. Notice where and how you experience gratitude (in your heart, belly, throat, etc.). As you experience gratitude in your body, slowly let go of what you're grateful for and simply rest in the feeling of gratitude. Stay with this feeling of gratitude as you wake up in the morning, go about your day, take a nap, or fall asleep at night. iRest Practice 28: Welcoming Gratitude from the iRest Program for Healing PTSD: A Proven Effective Approach to Using Yoga Nidra Meditation & Deep Relaxation Techniques to Overcome Trauma.
