Greetings,

Associates!

My name is Don Schafer,

Co-founder of Unified Minds & Spirit.

I am a certified Reiki Master and today we are going to talk about chakras.

The purpose to today's talk is to get familiar with what a chakra is,

By understanding its function,

Why it is important,

And how it benefits our everyday life.

In order to get familiar with what a chakra is,

We must first learn of its origin and history.

The term chakra,

Or the chakra energy system,

First appears in ancient Indian texts called Vedas that were written in Sanskrit between 1500 and 500 BC.

So what exactly is a chakra?

The word is defined as a spinning disc or wheel.

A chakra on the human body is a spinning disc or wheel of energy.

There are as many as 114 chakras all over the body.

However,

There are seven main chakras that run along the spine.

The health of one's chakras is directly connected to the physical,

Mental,

Emotional,

And spiritual well-being of a person.

The chakras achieve this by balancing and harmonizing an individual's life force,

Also known as prana in Hinduism or chi in Taoism.

If this life force becomes blocked or imbalanced,

It will create disharmony and dis-ease and affect the overall health of an individual.

So now that we know what a chakra is,

We also know it is part of a larger energetic system.

We also learned that this system is responsible for the overall well-being of the human body.

So let's go ahead and learn about each one of the seven major chakras and their functions.

The first chakra is the root chakra.

It's located at the base of the spine and the color associated with this chakra is red.

This chakra is responsible for our security and stability.

If this chakra is balanced and open,

We feel secure,

Grounded,

And courageous.

However,

If this chakra becomes imbalanced or blocked,

It will result in feeling insecure or fearful.

The second chakra is the sacral chakra and this chakra is located about two inches below the navel.

The color associated with this chakra is orange and this is responsible for our intimacy,

Sexuality,

And our sensuality.

It also affects our creativity.

If the chakra is imbalanced,

Blocked,

Or closed,

You will most likely inhibit intimacy issues,

Your sensitivity will be dulled,

And your creativity will be affected.

The third chakra is the solar plexus chakra and this is located between the navel and the breastbone.

The color associated with this chakra is orange and this chakra represents our personal power.

It is the seat of our ego,

Our strength,

And where it contains our anger.

When this chakra is affected,

It will result in lower self-esteem,

A loss of willpower,

And loss of control.

The fourth chakra is the heart chakra and it is located in the center of your chest.

The color that is associated with this chakra is emerald green.

This chakra is a bridge between the three lower physical chakras and the three upper spiritual chakras.

This chakra is responsible for our relationships,

Our compassion,

And our love.

An imbalanced,

Blocked,

Or closed heart chakra will result in an inability to love oneself or to love others and you'll experience a lack of compassion.

The fifth chakra is the throat chakra and that is located at the base of our neck.

The color associated with this chakra is blue and this throat chakra is responsible for communication and speaking of one's truth.

If this chakra is imbalanced,

Blocked,

Or closed,

It will result in poor communication and failure to express the truth.

The sixth chakra is known as the third eye chakra and that is located in the middle of the forehead and the color associated with this chakra is indigo.

This chakra is responsible for our clairvoyance,

Our spiritual perspective,

And our imagination.

If this chakra is imbalanced,

Blocked,

Or closed,

You may experience a lack of imagination and lose some perspective on life.

The seventh and final chakra of this main chakra system is the crown chakra located at the top of your head.

The color associated with this chakra is violet.

This chakra is responsible for your higher wisdom and it connects you to your higher self and spiritual wisdom as well as feeling one with everything and connected to all.

If this chakra is imbalanced,

Blocked,

Or closed,

You will most likely experience a disconnect to your spiritual wisdom,

Your higher self,

And have a lapse of faith.

Now that you have learned about the seven main chakras and their individual functions,

It can be surmised that maintaining a clear,

Open,

And balanced chakra is optimal for one's overall health.

There are an array of activities in order to achieve this.

Some examples are meditation,

Yoga,

Exercise,

And healthy eating just to name a few.

So in summary,

The chakra system and each individual chakra plays a key role in our physical,

Mental,

Emotional,

And spiritual well-being.

We have learned the basic functions of each individual chakra and what it is responsible for.

And we now know why it is so important to maintain their health.

Through healthy eating,

Exercise,

And meditation,

We ensure the health of the chakra system,

Which in turn benefits our everyday lives.

This now concludes our talk on chakras.

Thank you and be well.
