Hey there!
Today's practice is all about choosing kindness,
Even when there's a lot of noise.
Find a comfy spot and position to settle into.
Let your shoulders relax and drop.
Let your face soften.
Close your eyes if you wish.
This is time to put away the stresses for a few minutes here.
Notice your breath and slow it down.
Take a good quality deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly out through your nose,
Releasing your jaw,
Releasing everything.
As you take a few cycles of breath on your own,
Nice and slow,
Bring in a sense of calm with each inhale and let go of any irritation or heaviness with each exhale.
Now imagine all the loud voices,
The arguments,
The endless opinions of the world.
See them as fallen leaves or sticks caught in a strong river current.
Imagine watching the force of the water carry them further and further away until you are left in stillness.
Notice the quiet and peace that remains,
Just clear,
Smooth waters,
A space that belongs only to you and in this quiet space,
You can feel a calm wash over you as you enjoy a few quiet moments to yourself.
When you can,
Bring your attention to your heart where you feel a loving warmth.
This is your natural kindness,
Your innate ability to meet the world with gentleness.
As you breathe in,
Feel this warmth expand in your chest.
As you breathe out,
Let it flow outward like a gentle wave.
You don't need to fix or change anything or anyone.
Just by resting in this softness,
You are reminded of what is truly worth your time and energy and attention.
Stay for as long as you need in this quiet solitude.
Take a final deep breath in,
Gathering the sense of calm and exhale fully,
Grounding yourself in the present moment.
Open your eyes if you had them closed and with all the warmth and gentleness in your heart,
Take in your surroundings,
The room you're in,
The seat you're on.
Remind yourself that kindness is always possible and choosing so shows a real kind of strength even in a noisy world.
And until next time,
Have a good one.
