Let's begin by finding a position where your body can feel completely supported.
That might be lying down or laying back in a chair.
It might even be sitting upright with your spine spacious and tall.
Allow your hands to rest where they naturally fall and I invite you to close your eyes gently.
There is nowhere to be right now except here.
There is nothing to fix,
Nothing to tend to,
Just the act of arriving.
Take a slow inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
Arriving with each breath,
Inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
A little more present and one more time,
Inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
Feeling your body coming into the present moment.
Allowing your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Invite you to feel the weight of your body.
To notice where your body feels supported.
And gently allow your awareness to move to the back of your head.
Just noticing.
Down the back of your neck.
Just the gentle gaze of your awareness across the back of your shoulders and down both arms.
Inviting your awareness across all ten fingertips.
And that gentle gaze of awareness down the back of the spine.
The curve of the spine.
The spaces between vertebrae.
Just allowing your awareness to settle like a loving gaze across your hips.
Down the backs of your legs.
And the soles of your feet.
Inviting that loving gaze of awareness up the front of your legs.
The front of the hips.
And the pelvic fold.
Gentle and loving gaze of awareness.
Inviting that gaze up to the belly.
And to the chest.
Allowing that loving gaze to settle across the face,
The lips,
And forehead.
Inviting your awareness with this loving gaze to your breath.
Not to change it.
Just to gaze lovingly at your natural breath.
A gentle rise.
And a gentle fall.
Noticing how your breath breathes your body.
Just as it is.
Each inhale like an invitation to witness.
And each exhale settling back down into your body.
I invite you to imagine that your body is like a plant.
Not dramatic.
Just alive.
There is a root system beneath you.
It's a root system that has grown quietly and steadily over time.
Some of the roots are strong.
Some are delicate.
Some are tangled.
There's no judgment here.
Just imagine and notice this root system beneath you.
And might you bring your awareness to the very base of your spine.
Imagining roots gently extending downward from there.
Moving into the earth beneath you.
Slowly and naturally.
There's no force required here.
Each of these roots carry memory.
Experiences.
These roots carry love.
Grief.
Responsibility.
They carry your conditioning.
Everything you have lived is in these roots.
Just notice them.
Notice the color and shape.
The path that they follow.
Now might you imagine that some of these roots have been wrapped too tightly.
Tangled or knotted around old expectations.
Old have-tos.
Old fears of not being enough.
Good enough.
Supported enough.
There's no need to rip these roots free.
There's no need to solve them.
There's no need to rearrange them.
Just bring gentle awareness and that loving gaze to them.
On your next inhale,
Imagine your breath bringing space to these roots.
And on your exhale,
Imagine a soft loosening.
Inhaling space into these roots.
And exhaling softening.
Inhaling space.
Exhaling a loosening.
A softening.
You are not uprooting yourself.
You are allowing breath to move through what has become tight.
You are allowing oxygen where there was compression.
Allowing light where there was density.
Expansion where there was habit.
Inhaling space.
Exhaling softness.
Now imagine that these roots are no longer bound.
No longer tangled.
And they begin to spread.
Wider.
Deeper.
Healthier.
Free to take in nourishment.
Free to breathe.
Feel the stability beneath you.
The steadiness beneath you.
Feel that you don't have to hold on to everything so tightly.
The earth is holding you.
Your breath is holding you.
Life itself is holding you.
I invite you to bring your awareness to your heart.
As your roots loosen,
Soften,
And expand.
Your heart becomes lighter.
Your heart becomes more spacious.
And it's not because life is perfect.
But because something in you is no longer gripping.
There is something within you that knows how to grow.
And how to expand.
Even after being constricted.
Even after grief.
Even after being confined.
And that knowing is ancient.
Just resting here for a few breaths.
Breathing simply.
Rooted and alive.
Slowly bringing your awareness back to your body.
Noticing your fingertips and your toes.
Maybe wiggling them just a bit.
Noticing your hands and your feet.
Noticing your face.
Taking a deeper inhale and a longer exhale whenever you are ready.
Gently opening your eyes.
Coming back to your space.
Allowing your eyes to wander.
Notice colors and shapes.
Maybe put a hand on your heart space.
We untangle gently and slowly.
We breathe through it.
And that is enough.
