Hi.
I don't know about you,
But there are times when I feel so weary.
The world we live in can feel busy,
Our lives filled with to-dos and distractions,
And it can be exhausting.
Do you often feel weary or worried?
How often do you take time to really rest in the midst of all this worry and busyness?
I'm not talking about taking a nap,
Although those can be very restful.
I'm talking about drinking in the life-giving,
Empowering,
Nourishing rest that the Savior wants to give you.
The kind of rest that helps you go about your day feeling strengthened by His love and peace.
How many minutes in your day do you spend resting in the Savior?
Because this is what He wants to give you.
John 14.
27 reads,
And John 14.
18 says,
I will not leave you comfortless.
I will come to you.
How often throughout your day do you actually feel this kind of rest,
This kind of peace?
This meditation was created with a hope that it will help you find rest,
Rest and peace in Christ.
It's similar to the sacred space meditation,
But we will build upon it here.
President David O.
McKay said,
It is my hope that you will begin to experience what he is describing as you spend time in daily meditation with the Lord.
So I invite you to get in a comfortable place and position.
And close your eyes.
Just allow your body to relax.
Taking a deep breath in through the nose.
Breathing out.
Exhaling any tension or stress.
Inhaling,
Opening up,
Making space around your heart.
Exhaling and relaxing your head,
Your jaw,
Your neck.
Inhaling and trying to breathe in light.
Exhaling,
Relaxing your shoulders and arms.
Inhaling and creating more space and openness.
Relaxing your back and belly.
All the way down through your legs,
Feet and toes.
Just letting your body sit however it feels most comfortable.
Now,
Imagining yourself in a beautiful place in nature.
A place of peace where the abundance of God's creations are all around you.
It could be a place you've been to before,
That has a happy memory,
Or a place you create in your mind.
What do you notice about this place?
What do you see?
What can you hear?
How do you feel?
Letting the beauty and life of this place hold and support you.
Now,
Inviting the Lord into this place with you.
Wherever he is,
Is perfect.
He might be standing at a distance,
Giving more light,
Bringing more light.
He may be putting his arm around you,
Or holding you in an embrace.
How does it feel with him here?
How does his presence change this place?
Letting him and the space hold and support you.
Resting here.
Now,
I invite you to bring to mind something that has been difficult in your life lately.
A trial,
A worry,
A fear.
You might have a few come to mind,
But for now,
Just pick one.
What does this difficulty feel like for you?
I invite you right now to give this difficulty,
This trial,
Worry,
Or fear to the Savior.
He is right there waiting.
Place it in his hands.
Let him take it from you.
If it feels too difficult to give it away completely,
Then let him carry it with you.
Let him carry you.
Cast your burden upon the Lord and he will sustain you.
Laying this difficulty at his feet.
Your fear,
Your worry,
Your worry,
Your fear,
Your anxiety,
Your trial,
Whatever it is for you,
Giving it to him.
Giving it to him so that he can fill you with love,
Comfort,
And peace.
How do you feel now?
Can you feel his love for you as you give this to him?
Can you feel his peace?
Letting it spread through you until you are filled.
Breathing in gratitude for this gift of love,
For the light and peace that can only come from God.
Knowing that you can return here whenever you need.
Inhaling gratitude for the Lord and for this place.
Exhaling,
And when you're ready,
Smiling and opening your eyes.
