Pedro Novo

3D Audio Designer & Acoustic Researcher | London Pedro Novo is a London-based 3D audio designer and researcher working at the intersection of sound, spatial perception, and architectural acoustics. With over two decades of experience in room acoustics, immersive sound reproduction, and psychoacoustics, his work investigates how spatial listening influences perceptual metrics such as intimacy, envelopment, and presence. He combines quantitative acoustic analysis with creative spatial sound design, developing 3D audio environments informed by research in auditory perception and aural architecture. Pedro has collaborated with leading architectural and cultural institutions including Zaha Hadid Architects and the Victoria & Albert Museum, contributing to more than 50 completed projects integrating acoustic design with spatial and experiential objectives. He designed and implemented a state-of-the-art 3D Ambisonics system featuring 14 loudspeakers arranged in a spherical configuration around the listener, and he has extensive experience in binaural (headphones based) 3D audio design. Both systems have been widely used to support architectural design and artistic projects, and include advanced capabilities for active reverberation. In 2025, Pedro founded MountainWinds, a research and creative studio focused on spatial audio and psychoacoustics, exploring how controlled sound fields and dynamic localization can modulate attention and spatial awareness.
