Why do we tend to be our harshest critics and hinder our own progress through self-sabotage?

I'm sure many of us have pondered this question.

My hope today is that you find solace and clarity in addressing your uncertainties through this meditation.

Discover a position that feels most comfortable for your body,

Allowing your mind to relax.

Whether you prefer sitting or lying down,

It's up to you.

If you feel comfortable,

Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Make sure you have settled into your chosen position.

Take a deep breath in,

Letting go of any still air as you exhale.

Repeat this process with another deep breath in and exhale out.

I invite you to join me in focusing your mind and body on the present moment,

Turning inward to identify the source of your self-sabotaging behaviors.

By doing so,

We can work on changing these actions and creating new patterns.

There are numerous factors that can lead a person to engage in self-sabotage.

We must determine the source of fear which leads us to sabotage our true desires.

Take a deep breath in and exhale it out.

I will ask you some questions.

No need to respond out loud,

But simply turn inward and be mindful of what you answer.

I will allow you some time to ponder on the questions after I ask them.

You will hear the music,

So let it allow your true spirit to open.

We often find various excuses that prevent us from pursuing our dreams.

What causes you to engage in self-sabotage?

Have you ever made a promise to yourself to do something,

Only to know deep down that you won't actually do it?

Because these questions may have created a sense of heaviness,

Let's lighten the load by taking a few deep breaths.

Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.

Again in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Perhaps one of the questions prompted you to identify and address the root cause of your fears,

Which often lead us to sabotage our true wishes.

To break this pattern,

Improving the connection between our mind and body and reshaping our self-narrative are essential steps.

Today you have completed the first step.

Throughout your day,

Allow your breath to calm you and focus on turning inward to reconnect with yourself.

Even if it's after leaving this meditation,

You can always find a comfortable space at home or in your car,

Or grab a journal to write down your thoughts and ways to break negative cycles.

Or you can simply restart this meditation.

There's no correct or incorrect way to do this.

This is a learning process and it takes time.

Before you fully emerge back into your space,

I wanted to share a quote from Robin Sharma.

Our biggest enemy is our own self-doubt.

We really can achieve extraordinary things in our lives,

But we sabotage our greatness because of our fear.

My darling,

Do not allow fear to prevent you from living an extraordinary life.

You deserve greatness.

Take another final deep inhale in through the nose and exhale out through the mouth,

Allowing the quote to resonate within you,

Releasing anything that is no longer beneficial.

When you are ready to return to the present moment,

Gently wiggle your fingers and toes and open your eyes to the wonderful day ahead.

Tonya, this was right on time for me. Thanks for sharing. We are always our own toughest critics and that is a mind set we have to work hard to impact and change. This was a great start.
