I believe that this underlying and very common belief can undermine many of our good intentions and meaningful efforts in an attempt to heal from either something in the body or the mind.
And I'll share with you how I shifted from this old mindset to a new,
What I call,
Heart set to be able to receive my healing.
Blessings,
This is Brenda Cary,
And I'm a holistic healer for highly sensitive souls,
And my intention for this channel is to share wisdom and insights from my own healing journeys so that you can awaken your inner healer.
I really think that this underlying belief can undermine so many of our good intentions and our meaningful efforts in order to heal from whether it's a condition in the body or the mind.
To give you some context,
I will share with you my first healing journey.
In previous videos,
I've mainly shared about my autoimmune digestive condition.
That was actually a healing journey down the road.
My first one was from my teenage years.
Spine curves to the right,
This is a condition called scoliosis.
So I had spinal fusion surgery at 19 years of age,
After going through several years previously of being in a back brace,
Think of like a plastic corset,
That squeezed all of my internal organs in hopes that it would allow the spine to stop curving.
But the inevitable happened and I had the surgery and I now have those metal rods forever and ever.
And it is what it is.
So for many years,
When I was seeing different doctors and surgeons,
I was told,
And keep in mind,
I'm a teenager and very impressionable,
I was told by well-meaning surgeons that there was something wrong with my back and my back needed to be fixed.
And I internalized that as,
There's something wrong with me and I need to be fixed.
And I actually think this is a very common belief that many of us hold deep down.
Thus,
Our efforts in healing are covered with this idea that there's something wrong with me and that I need to be fixed.
This can really shadow and undermine so many of our efforts,
Well-meaning efforts to heal.
I would like to invite a different belief system.
And I'm not saying that this will be overnight for you to get to this point,
But that you don't need to be fixed and that there is nothing wrong with you.
I'm not saying that we don't need to do certain treatments or modalities,
But to know that in essence,
In your core of who you are,
Who you really are,
And your body and your mind know innately knows how to heal.
And when we can believe that,
Not just with our minds,
Like we can think that or try to intellectualize it,
But when we can really embody it in our hearts,
It's as if something within us opens up and we are able to receive our healing.
And that comes from a very different place,
A very loving and compassionate place.
So you might be thinking,
Well,
How do we get there?
How do we get from this old mindset of there's something wrong with me and I need to be fixed into there's nothing wrong with me and I am perfect as I am.
Here are two ideas that I work with every day because that old belief system still sneaks in there from time to time,
But I'm getting pretty good at catching it and then shifting it so that the old mindset then drops down and becomes what I call a heart set.
So the first thing is instead of there's something wrong with me,
Start intentionally looking for what is right,
Meaning what is beautiful,
What is loving,
What is filled with grace.
And if initially you can't find it within yourself,
Look for it outside.
I mean,
Mother Nature gives us so many beautiful examples of what is right in the world.
Maybe it's wildflowers.
Maybe it's watching a river flowing downstream.
Maybe it's observing wildlife.
There's so many examples.
Allow yourself to see the rightness in the world and then eventually translate it to yourself.
For me,
I spent so much time thinking about all the body movements with metal rods that I couldn't do anymore.
Like I couldn't flex my spine anymore.
I couldn't be able to rotate.
But I started focusing on the body movements in part that were right and that felt really good.
And consequently,
I became a certified yoga teacher.
Now,
Don't get me wrong.
My yoga practice looks very different than most people on the planet because I need to modify certain moves.
But I enjoy moving my body in the way that it is now meant to.
So what is it for you?
Where can you find the rightness in the world and then also within yourself?
And place your attention on that.
And every time you kind of feel your mind going down that old familiar mental pattern of,
Oh,
There's just got to be something wrong.
I have to do something to make it right.
Pause for a moment and look either around you or look within you and observe.
Where is the beauty?
Where can I expect so much love?
Second thing.
The other thing that I think is really important to shift from the old belief system of there's something wrong with me and I need to be fixed.
This idea of fixed seems very hard and intangible.
And so often I will hear people,
Even people who have shared in the comments of my videos,
Like I just don't think my body could heal anymore.
I think this just it is what it is.
And maybe,
However,
I would say,
I don't know if we even can understand the potential of our healing.
And being open to that possibility opens our heart to so much more than what our mind can rationally think or intellectualize.
So I'm not saying that we have to leap completely from an old belief of this just is what it is with my body all the way to I completely believe that my body can completely heal.
That might be too much of a leap.
And like in my case,
The metal rods,
They are what they are.
There's no way that they're going to disappear or dissolve.
It is what it is.
But I've made peace with that.
I also believe in the potential of my body to heal and to do what it is naturally designed to do when I get my own negative thinking patterns out of the way.
And there are many of them.
But I am open to a bigger possibility than what my mind could even think of.
So that's my invitation to you.
Can you be open to the potential,
The potential of your body and mind,
Knowing that there is so much inner wisdom we may not even realize and just holding space for that loving and kind wisdom that is within us all.
And that's how we shift from an old mindset,
One that says there's something wrong with me.
I must need to be fixed into this new open heart set that sees beauty and joy and abundance in all things around us and within ourselves.
And that is open to the potential of so much healing from love.
So if this resonates with you,
Please give it a like.
And as always,

Thank You! Yes. . . .to all that. Healing with Love. It's proven we can make ourselves ill . . .then we can help heal ourselves also. . . ! Heartset is a great term to shift the energy from a mental state to the heart of Love seeking then Seeing Beauty. The fruits of a simple walk with a focus on animals & plants lifts me out of a mental funk. Again, proven by physical science & neuroscience that this type of "stroll" or walk is of huge benefit to our bodies! What we Focus On . . we can achieve! As a life long Auto Immune patient I can assure all that there are holistic healing benefits, Paired with your medical team we move forward. We've nothing to lose and One will see gains. Peace, monk
