Hello and welcome to The Daily Insight.
I'm Carmen Warrington from Australia and thank you for joining me for meditation.
Today's practice is a visualisation and it makes no difference whether you're a visual person or a sensing person.
However you can take yourself into the time and the place of this meditation will be right for you.
The purpose of this practice is to create a state of mind that will help you flow beautifully through your day.
However your day will unfold,
This is your day and you can choose to make it light,
Bright and powerful.
This is your day.
So sit relaxed and alert with eyes closed or slightly open,
Whatever serves you best today.
To centre yourself take three deep breaths.
Through the nose breathe in deeply.
Through slightly parted lips breathe out fully.
And then wait until your body calls for the next breath in.
After your three deep breaths continue breathing normally.
I invite you to take yourself to a particular time of day.
The time is pre-dawn,
Just before the sunrise,
Still dark with just a hint of daylight in the sky.
And now take yourself to a particular place,
An easterly facing beach,
Safe and secluded.
Imagine it to be a perfect beach for you.
Visualise,
Imagine,
Sense yourself there.
Involve all your senses to create this inner landscape.
Feel a cool breeze across your cheek.
Sense the fresh,
Salty air.
The soft sand beneath your feet.
The motion of the waves coming and going.
Epping and flowing.
Face out to the sea,
The horizon,
Where sky and ocean meet.
And where in a few moments the sun will rise.
The first light has appeared in the sky.
And a hint of colour is returning to the world,
Out of the shadow and the midnight darkness.
It's a beautiful time of day,
A time of hope and optimism.
A time to start afresh.
A new day is about to dawn.
A new song is celebrating this moment,
The beginning of a precious new day.
None of us knows how many days we have.
All we have is this day.
This moment in gratitude for this day.
This moment.
This breath.
I am alive and I am present.
Think about what else you appreciate.
What are you grateful for?
Turn your attention back to the open sky above you.
Spacious.
Unlimited.
The vast deep sea in front of you.
The sand beneath you.
Each grain of sand.
Every fish in the sea.
Every bird.
Every tree.
Every blade of grass.
All connected in the oneness of life.
And so are you.
With your heart open,
Feel a sense of belonging and connection to the world.
I am connected.
I belong.
The sun is very close to rising now.
The sky is getting lighter.
The upper clouds are infused with a rosy pink hue.
And the clouds on the horizon are turning golden.
Reflecting optimism and hope for this new day.
The golden glow on the horizon is brilliant.
Magnificent.
And here comes the first glimpse of the sun.
The top of the golden ball of light rises out of the ocean.
The golden sun is rising.
This is my inner landscape.
This sun is my power centre.
The source of my energy is light,
Bright and powerful.
I am light,
Bright and powerful.
I am light,
Awake and aware.
I am bright,
Positive and creative.
I am powerful.
I am light.
I am shining my light on my thoughts and my feelings.
I bring them into the light without judgement or criticism,
Just awareness.
I am powerful.
And if there are any thoughts or feelings that no longer serve me,
My powerful soul releases them.
I am bright.
I use my bright and creative mind to set up a positive outlook for the day.
This day is mine.
What do I choose for myself for this day?
How do I want to feel today?
Let your attention drift to the ocean.
There is immense power here also.
An unstoppable force of nature.
Waves are in motion beyond your control.
In your day ahead,
There are things already set in motion.
Events will unfold.
Situations will occur.
Circumstances.
Conversations.
The way people treat you.
The ebb and flow of the ocean beyond your control.
What is yours to control?
Your thoughts.
Your attitudes.
Your reactions are yours.
If you think,
Say and do what you've always done,
The outcome will always be the same.
I am light,
Bright and powerful.
I sit in the sky.
The unlimited open sky.
Resting in the beautiful blue sky.
The open spaciousness of my mind.
Thoughts become slower.
Space in between thoughts.
I am.
I am.
I am.
This meditation is coming to a close.
Ground yourself by taking three deep breaths in and out.
Now that you've reconnected to your light,
Bright,
Powerful center,
Ease yourself back into your day.
This is your day.
