Hi,
Welcome to this meditation led by Claudia Silas,
Yoga,
Meditation and dance facilitator.
Today we're going to be exploring the layers of the somatic body.
To begin with,
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down if you prefer to be more relaxed,
Although seated often provides more alertness.
Wherever you are,
Just ensuring that you're comfortable,
But also that there is some sense of openness and space in the body.
If you're seated,
Do lift through the spine.
Imagine someone has taken the tops of the ears and is drawing them up and this will give you a lovely lift through the back body rather than a pressing forwards which can actually inhibit flow of breath and energy through the body.
Settle the hands down into your lap or onto your thighs and just begin to soften the gaze or close the eyes entirely.
Becoming aware of the skin.
Sensations you can feel on the skin.
Clothing,
Temperature,
Air,
Pulsing,
Tingling.
This field of sensation that is the skin.
Notice its aliveness.
Drawing deeper down into the soft tissues,
The muscles,
The ligaments,
The tendons,
The fascia,
That connective tissue that encompasses everything in the body and connects everything together.
This network of tissue constantly feedbacking and here in these soft tissues what you may experience is a sense of tightness,
Of space and tension,
Pressure.
You're resting in these tissues with awareness.
And drawing further down,
Deeper inward to the bones.
The heaviness of the bones,
Their weight,
Their structure,
Their stability and here what you may experience is a sense of shape,
Of direction,
Of alignment.
Of posture.
Drawing deeper with awareness in toward the torso now.
Noticing the movement of the lungs.
Breath.
Expanding and contracting.
Moving the torso,
Moving the whole body in fact,
This breathing body.
Drawing deeper still into the heart.
That very alive and energetic center of the heart pulsing rhythmically.
Regulating much of the body.
And notice how all of this is happening by itself.
There is no one instructing the body to function this way.
But this is this amazing house that we live in,
The body.
And rest here in the aliveness of this body.
This heart beating,
Pulsing.
These lungs expanding,
Contracting.
Even in a place of stillness,
Breath,
Moving the whole body.
These heavy bones that enable you to have structure and stability.
These soft tissues that give you fluidity and expression.
And the magnificent field of skin,
Alive,
Tingling and vibrant.
Just resting now in this body as a field of sensation.
Feel free to stay here as long as time allows.
Thank you.
