Merry meet!
Welcome to Magical Minutes,
A series of short talks on topics of interest to Wiccans,
Pagans,
And Witches.
Whether you are new to the craft,
An experienced practitioner,
Or simply curious about nature-based spiritualities,
All are welcome and honored here.
Let's spend a few Magical Minutes together.
In this episode,
We'll be taking a look at Black Salt.
Black Salt,
Also known as Witch's Salt,
Has been used in magical practices since ancient times.
Corresponding to the element of Earth,
Black Salt is mainly used in workings for protection,
Banishing,
And all-around boundary setting.
It can even be used when casting a circle.
There are several ways in which Black Salt can be used for protective workings,
Such as sprinkling it at doorways or in a circle around your entire home,
Adding it to a protective bottle,
Or adding some to a bowl and keeping it beside or under your bed to ward off negative energies while you sleep.
You can purchase pre-made Black Salt,
But it's easy,
Simple,
And meaningful to make your own.
To do so,
You will need salt,
Black pepper,
A form of ash,
And activated charcoal.
The ash should ideally come from smudge sticks or other herbs you've burned.
If taking ash from your cauldron,
Just be sure that it came from a working that is in tandem with your current intention.
For example,
If the ash came from a previous working meant to attract something to you,
It likely won't be as effective in creating Black Salt,
Which is meant to guard against things.
Once you have your ingredients gathered,
Just blend away with a mortar and pestle.
As always,
Ground and center before you begin.
You might also choose to recite a chant,
Prayer,
Mantra,
Or simply state your intention as you mix everything.
Then,
Store the mixture in a jar or a glass bottle.
As with anything having to do with banishing,
Setting a boundary is not the same as sending forth harm or even ill intent.
So,
Black Salt should be thought of and used as nothing more than an energetic do-not-disturb sign.
Thank you for joining me for this episode of Magical Minutes.
May you walk in love and light,
And may all your days be filled with magic.
Blessed Be.
