Namaste sannyasa family and everyone.
A very warm welcome to all of you in this daily live meditation session with me,
Dhyanse.
We are meditating on 112 meditation techniques of Vigyan Bhairav Tantra.
In the previous session,
We contemplated about the illusion of life,
Maya,
That creates this limitation of our experience,
Of this experience field what we call as life.
And we said this maya,
This illusion has five layers,
The layers of doing,
Of knowing,
Of attachment,
Of time and order.
We contemplated on each of these layers,
We meditated upon each of these layers.
But as you go deeper into this understanding of maya and how this brings limitation to the consciousness,
It brings the involution of consciousness creating this limited experience of life.
A question may arise in you or several questions may arise in you,
Is this life then meaningless?
What is the meaning of life if this is an illusion?
And you can go down that rabbit hole having all sorts of questions about meaning,
Purpose of your life.
One of the meditators in our sannyasa family,
She raised this question to herself as well.
She says,
I am contemplating maya illusion.
I completely see that in order to embrace truth,
Awareness,
Consciousness,
We let go of the layers of our identity.
I find this very powerful and I do connect deeply with it.
However the question here arises,
There is still something in this word illusion that suggests a sense of meaninglessness to the life of doing,
Knowing,
Attachment,
Time and order that is spoken of.
There is still something about it that stays with me,
About this sense of meaninglessness to the life.
The question arose to me again after this session.
It has been arising before in the past as well.
I would love to hear ideas and thoughts on this.
This meaninglessness of life or what is the meaning of life?
This question,
It arises in that session or it arises in other situations of contemplations,
Of meditations,
It must have arisen in your life as well.
What is the meaning of life?
What is the meaning of my life?
Or is this life meaningless?
How do you approach this?
How do you solve this?
How do you come out of this question?
No matter what answer you get,
It is tasteful for a while but you remain in this question again and again and again.
How do you break free from this question whether there is a meaning to life or not?
Whether there is a meaning to your life or not?
How do you approach that?
Let us go down this rabbit hole once again.
There are several positions that you can take while you approach this question.
Position number one,
Where you say,
Yes,
There is a meaning to life.
The moment you take that position where you say,
Yes,
There is a meaning to life,
What you are saying is that I am on a search.
I don't know what is the meaning of life.
I have to find it out.
I have to search the meaning of life.
Suddenly,
As you take that path that there is a meaning to life,
You create an unknown.
You create a search.
You create a query.
You create something which has to be found.
Why is that happening?
Why is that creation that there is something to be found?
It may be that emptiness that you have created,
That unknown that you have created,
Which you are trying to search,
Which you are trying to fill,
Which you are trying to answer,
That emptiness is intrinsic to life in the first place.
It could very well be that life is empty,
Absolutely empty.
And that emptiness to life is the true nature,
True reality of life.
In that case,
What are you searching?
What meaning are you trying to fill?
If you see this emptiness by saying,
Yes,
Life has a meaning,
The moment you go that path,
You are trying to find something,
It implies that there is an emptiness,
There is an unknown intrinsically there.
If you want to go that path,
If that satisfies your palette,
Learn to be with that emptiness.
Learn to be with that intrinsic nature of life as emptiness.
How do you do that?
You sit in meditation,
You sit in the silence,
In the emptiness of meditation,
Learning how to be with life,
Learning how to be with this intrinsic nature of life that is absolute emptiness.
That is one possibility.
What is the other possibility?
The other possibility is that there was some meaning to life,
There is some intrinsic meaning to life,
There is some feeling,
Some energy in life,
But you are disconnected from that energy,
Therefore you are on the search,
Therefore you are in that questioning,
Therefore you are looking to once again find that meaning and all along this way you are giving substitutes,
Somehow substitutes to answer this unless you really discover this intrinsic filling of life.
If that is the case,
See that life is complete unto itself because life has its own filling,
Life has its own energy,
So life in that sense is complete unto itself.
It does not require any additional meaning,
Any additional goal,
Any additional objectivity,
It in itself is complete and all you have to do is to get back to that energy,
To get back to that completeness of life.
This simply means you have gone astray in life.
Whatever you are doing,
Whatever you are trying to achieve,
An attempt to achieve,
To give meaning and purpose to life is false,
Is simply a substitute to something that is already filled,
Something that is already intrinsically complete in itself.
If you want to go that path,
If that is what resonates to you,
All you have to do is drop all the meaning in life,
Stop assigning all the meaning,
All the purpose to things,
Rather jump into life itself directly,
Into the energy of the life,
Life as a word,
As something alive,
Filled with life,
Without trying to attach any objective to it,
Without trying to attach any question to it,
Just live life.
These are the two possibilities if you take the position number 1.
If you say,
No,
Life has no meaning,
Life is meaningless.
If you want to go down that path,
If you want to take that position number 2,
Where you say,
No,
Life has no meaning,
Life is meaningless,
What happens when you do that?
The moment you take that position,
You suddenly are open,
Suddenly open to more in life,
To the meaninglessness of life,
To the absurdity of life,
To the abstraction of life,
To the paradox of life,
To the illogical,
The irrational of life.
Suddenly you were trying to just bring meaning to life,
You were trying to converse your mind and trying to point that mind,
That convergence to some objectivity,
But now suddenly you are open.
So you could take this position number 2,
Which is to say,
Life is meaningless.
In that position,
The moment you rest in that position,
That life is meaningless,
You are open to everything in life,
With the rational,
The irrational,
The logical,
The illogical,
The absurdity,
The abstraction,
Everything that the life brings.
A farmer,
One morning when he woke up,
He woke up and he saw his goat was dead,
He was living in a remote place,
He had one goat and his goat was dead.
He said to himself,
Now there is no meaning in my life,
I love this goat very much,
What is the meaning of my life?
So he went to the river which was flowing next to his house in the remote areas and he jumped into the river to suicide because he said there is no meaning in life,
My goat is dead,
I also give my life away.
Later on,
His wife,
She found out that her husband has jumped into the river,
Given his life,
She also said,
My meaning of life was my husband,
Now there is no meaning of my life,
She went to the river,
Also took a jump,
Gave her life away.
An hour later,
The younger son of this farmer and his wife,
He woke up,
He loved his parents so much,
He said,
Both my parents,
They are dead now,
He realized that,
He said,
Now there is no meaning in my life,
He went to the river,
Also he took a jump to give his life away.
As he was drowning,
A mermaid,
She appeared,
A mermaid,
She appeared and took the son,
The younger son to the surface.
She said,
Why are you giving your life,
I give you a choice,
If you make love to me twenty times in a row right now,
I will resurrect your family and I will also save you and your family,
If you cannot make love to me twenty times in a row,
Your family is dead and I also will let you drown.
The son tried his best,
He could not make love twenty times in a row to the mermaid,
So eventually the mermaid let that son die as well.
An hour later,
The elder son of this family,
He woke up,
Realizing what all has happened,
Went to the river,
Seeing that his family is dead and as he was contemplating,
As he was realizing what all was happening,
The mermaid appeared to the surface again,
Laid down the same offer,
She said,
If you make love to me twenty times in a row right now,
I will resurrect your family,
Your father,
Your mother,
Your younger brother.
He said,
Okay,
I will take that offer,
But are you sure,
Can you handle me and twenty times making love in a row to the mermaid,
He asked.
The mermaid was surprised,
She was also finding this elder son very confident,
She said,
Okay,
But are you sure that it is possible for you to make twenty times love in a row?
The elder son said,
How do you think the goat died in the first place?
If you missed the abstraction,
The illogical of this joke,
You will miss the abstraction,
The illogical,
The meaninglessness of life itself.
So if you want to go that path of going with life as meaninglessness,
You have to be open,
You have to take life as it is in all its abstraction,
It's all its illogical,
It's all in its completeness.
And therefore,
We meditate in all its absurdity.
If you see what is meditation,
Meditation is the most absurd thing you could ever do.
You are sitting down,
Doing nothing,
Absolutely sitting silent and doing nothing.
It would appear to be the most illogical thing you could ever do,
The most abstract thing that you could ever do,
But still,
The moment you sit in silence,
The moment you sit in that openness,
You become open to the completeness of life,
To the completeness of everything that can be offered to you in the moments of silence.
And therefore,
On this position as well,
If you go that path,
You sit in meditation with openness to whatever is there,
Openness to the meaninglessness of it all.
These are the two positions which you could take.
You could take also a third position,
Which is when you have both the meaning and the meaninglessness of life.
This position is slightly complex to understand.
You have to grow into this position to have the meaning and the meaninglessness of life at the same time.
And there is even one more higher position,
The position number 4,
Where you have both the meaning and the meaninglessness and at the same time not have it as all.
In that position,
There is enlightenment,
In that position there is absolute nirvana.
But we will start with position number 1,
With position number 2 in life as you like it,
As what resonates to you the most.
For today's meditation session,
We will meditate on the position number 2,
On the meaninglessness of life so that you become open once again.
This sense of constant stress of convergence,
Finding this purpose,
Finding that meaning is for a while kept aside.
And here Bhairava says in his Vigyan Bhairava Tantra,
Also as a technique,
He simply says,
Rest in the meaninglessness of it all and be free.
So this is the technique for today.
Rest in the meaninglessness of it all and be free.
For the next minutes,
As you sit in silence with me,
As you sit in meditation with me,
Sit in the meaninglessness of it all.
Whatever arises in your consciousness,
Thought arises,
Emotion arises,
Idea arises,
Anything that arises in your consciousness,
Sit in the meaninglessness of it all.
Don't give it any meaning.
A thought arises,
Whatever it is concerned with,
With your work,
With your private life,
With your love,
With anything it is concerned with,
Don't give it any meaning.
Simply sit in the meaninglessness of it all and you will see all these thoughts,
All these contents of your mind,
They will lose energy and suddenly there will be a silence so deep,
So profound,
So vast arising in you that in that silence there is completeness,
There is meaning,
There is fullness,
There is everything worth experiencing in life.
Let us move into that silence,
Into that meaninglessness of it all.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable for you.
With your head,
Neck and back aligned,
Your body in a posture that is restful,
Your body in a posture that is comfortable,
Your body in a posture that is comfortable,
Your body in a posture that is restful,
Your body in a posture that is restful,
Your body in a posture that is restful.
Please close your eyes and take a posture that is comfortable,
Your body in a posture that is restful,
Your body in a posture that is restful,
Your body in a posture that is restful.
Rest in the meaninglessness of it all.
Whatever arises in your consciousness,
Any thought,
Anything,
Idea,
Images,
Don't give any meaning to it.
It's just nothing special.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
Whatever arises in you,
Remain in the meaninglessness of it all.
Not trying to hold on to anything.
We will did it.
Resting in the meaninglessness.
Not trying to hold anything.
Allowing the expansion.
Allowing the abstraction.
Allowing the expansion.
Allowing the expansion.
Allowing the expansion.
Not holding on to your breath.
Not holding on to any contents of your inner space.
Not holding on to any contents of your inner space.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Awareness,
Pure awareness with no contents in this silence.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness to unfold you,
To put you to rest.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Resting in the meaninglessness of it all.
Keeping this taste of silence in your mouth,
Your awareness in your inner space,
And restfulness in the meaninglessness of it all.
Very gently and slowly you may open your eyes.
And taking this sense of expansion,
Sense of all inclusion,
The logical and the illogical,
The rational and the irrational,
The meaningful and the meaningless in your daily life.
On this spiritual journey of life,
If you wish to flow along with me and other meditators of the Sanyasa family,
You're more than welcome to join us on this path of truth,
Of love,
Of connection,
Of meaning and meaninglessness as we flow together.
If this resonates to you,
If this is your calling,
Please write me an email with your introduction,
With your interest in our Sanyasa family,
And what can you give back to the Sanyasa family.
Thank you very much,
