Sit in your favorite spot somewhere in nature.
Sit comfortably,
Your back upright,
As if you were being pulled up from the top of your head.
Take a deep breath and relax.
Take another deep breath and feel the air on your skin,
The breeze if there happens to be one.
Hear the sounds around you of the birds,
The trees,
The water,
Whatever happens to be there.
Now focus on the smells.
Are there flowers?
Does it smell of water,
Of wood?
Feel your body touching the ground.
Connect with the ground beneath you,
Root yourself into the earth.
Keep breathing and noticing whatever happens around you.
Feel the connection with the things around you.
The ground beneath your feet,
The trees,
The water.
Without them you couldn't be alive.
You need the oxygen that they produce,
You need the water for your sustenance.
You need the fruits of the earth to be able to eat.
We all form part of a complex ecosystem.
Become aware of the trees and the oxygen they produce for you.
Become aware of the water and how it nourishes you.
Become aware of the fruits of the earth and how they give you sustenance.
We are all interconnected in this way.
So with every breath,
Become aware and smile in gratitude.
And just connect ever more deeply with your surroundings.
And when you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes and take in the scene.
