Sit comfortably,
Your back upright as if you were being pulled up by a string from the top of your head.
Let your eyes close and relax as you take a deep breath.
With the next deep breath just observe where it goes into your chest,
Into your tummy.
How does it feel?
Let a smile form on your lips and relax with the next breath.
And relax some more as you keep smiling.
Now bring to mind someone you're grateful for or something you're grateful for.
Enjoy this feeling of gratitude and then direct it toward your own body.
Be grateful for giving your life,
For letting you do so many things every day.
Turn the grateful awareness to your head,
Your brain,
Your skull,
Your eyes.
How amazing all the things your body makes possible.
Your nose,
Your ears,
Your mouth.
Just be grateful.
Your nose lets you smell,
Your eyes let you see with the ears you can hear and they give you a sense of balance.
Your mouth lets you taste,
Eat,
Speak.
Move your grateful awareness to your neck.
That balances your head where your vocal cords are.
Bringing the gratitude into your arms,
Your hands.
Into your chest and your lungs,
Your heart.
Your lungs that allow you to breathe.
Your heart that keeps pumping blood.
Your stomach and all the related organs that help you digest.
The kidneys and bladder that take care of getting the water that you drink or the beverages that you drink out of your body again.
Your liver that transforms a lot of the raw material or helps transform a lot of the raw material and nutrients.
Your reproductive organs.
Your skeleton,
Your buttocks,
Your thighs.
The amazing ways in which all of these function together.
Your knees,
Your lower legs,
Your feet,
Your toes.
Now take some time to just bring your attention to any place that needs it.
Just bring your gratitude and care.
Now just bring your attention all the way back up,
Thinking each part again in turn.
Notice any changes that happen in your body as you do this.
Maybe it's just your breathing that changes or your posture.
Let the gratitude really permeate throughout your body.
And when you're ready,
Slowly come back into the room.
And open your eyes.
