I invite you to find a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down.
You can even take this meditation on the go with you and practice while you're walking.
The idea is to come fully into this present moment,
Fully into the body that you inhabit and the space that the body inhabits all around you.
We do this by following our breath as it moves in and out of our body,
Cooler on the inhale,
Warmer on the exhale.
And we do this also by noticing all of the edges,
The bottoms of our feet,
The palms of our hands,
The tops of our shoulders,
Our crown,
Our root,
Be it seated,
Laying down or moving through space.
What does it feel like to inhabit this body in this time and in this place?
And simply notice,
Notice if there's tension,
Notice if there's ease.
There's no need to try to change anything.
Simply be present to everything that shows up for you.
Here in North America,
It is springtime.
The birds have an imperative to gather materials,
To build a nest,
To create a family,
To continue the cycle of life in the only way they know how,
With song and dance,
With work,
With love and care and attention.
Not very different from you or me.
You also have an imperative.
It could be the desire or longing of your heart.
You may call it your soul's purpose.
You may just call it the reason for being.
And each one of us has at our core seeds of meaning,
Seeds of purpose that have been planted deep within us.
And it is our imperative to nurture those seeds so that they may grow and flourish and blossom into whatever they are here to do.
But so often we find it very difficult to express what those seeds of desire are.
Or we find that maybe they're too big.
Or who are we to want to be or do or have or create something so incredible?
We often feel like we have to dim our lights or we feel like it isn't even safe to be who we truly are and to nurture those seeds into beautiful blossoming growing plants and flowers and trees.
So today we're going to practice tuning into those seeds and how we can nurture them.
So I invite you into this space.
You've already felt into all of your edges.
You know what it feels like to inhabit this body without judgment.
In this moment,
Just notice,
Am I okay?
In this moment only,
Am I safe?
In this moment only,
Am I allowed,
Do I have permission to look at those seeds and perhaps even begin to water them today.
Invite you to place a hand on your heart and perhaps another on your belly.
For women and men alike,
The belly is a space of creative energy.
It is the womb space metaphorically and literally depending on whether or not you actually have a womb.
But if you don't,
You still have the energy of creation located in your belly.
What is the longing of your heart that is wishing to be expressed today?
It might be something relatively close to home,
Like the desire to cook a meal that someone in your home will appreciate.
Maybe you will appreciate.
It could be a big desire to start a nonprofit,
To help people in need.
It could be a very public desire to speak on stage and inspire millions of people.
It could be anything in between.
There is no right or wrong desire of your heart.
We all have desires and they change and grow over time and we all have more than one.
So pick one today that's longing to be heard and allow it to grow ever so gently in the heart space.
Imagine your heart space filled with the most fertile,
Beautiful,
Perfect soil.
It is a place of nurturing care and compassion.
Imagine the sun warming every part of your being,
Shining upon you in this moment,
Shining upon your heart space.
And imagine those seeds starting to stir,
Making these microscopic movements as you focus the beautiful,
Loving,
Pure energy of the sun.
Can you hold the intention that your heart is ready to nurture these seeds?
What starts to break through the top of the soil?
What comes into your awareness?
Just at first it is just pure joy,
Pure magic.
The baby plant hasn't quite differentiated yet.
We don't know which longing of the heart it is until we keep nurturing it.
Notice the joy that escapes from all parts of you as you start to notice these little seedlings breaking out of the soil.
You're forgetting your judgment.
You're forgetting your worries.
You're not good enough-ness.
You're forgetting that nobody's judging you,
Nobody's looking at you.
Nobody even knows these seeds are sprouting but you.
You and spirit,
The universe,
The sun,
The soil,
And here it is sacred.
Use your imagination and your intention to allow these seeds to develop,
To sprout,
To grow first two leaves and then four and those leaves change.
What is it that you want to pour your care,
Your love,
Your affection,
Your attention and your energy into?
What is this longing on your heart?
Maybe it's abundant,
Radical physical health.
Maybe it is abundant,
Radical wealth and opportunity and freedom.
Maybe it is a desire for an intimate,
Safe,
Beautiful,
Loving relationship in your life.
Maybe it is a desire for your own spiritual growth,
For your own healing,
Or maybe your desire is to enable the healing of others and the healing of the planet or to take care of animals.
Name it now.
Call it out as you see these leaves changing and growing and more leaves coming as you see your seedling develop and grow.
Imagine it now growing up through the center of your being.
Imagine the crown of your head opening so that this magical seedling can turn into a sapling.
Imagine it now growing,
Reaching up higher and higher,
Growing up into the heavens.
Imagine all of these arms branching out into the cosmos,
Soaking up celestial energy,
Soaking up unconditional love.
There is no judgment.
Each one of us has been imprinted with seeds of creation.
Each one of us has an opportunity to nurture these seeds.
And you could say it is our imperative.
We are here solely to create.
As this beautiful sapling grows stronger and grows into a mighty tree,
The tree of your choosing,
Notice how the roots of this mighty tree are growing down through you,
Down through your roots,
Down through the soles of your feet,
Anchoring into Mother Earth below you,
Anchoring into this incredible celestial body,
Which we call home.
Notice how you can't separate any longer this tree from your perfect vessel,
Perfect in its imperfections,
Perfect in its nowness.
And feel yourself now swaying in the cosmic winds.
Feel yourself tethered to Mother Earth,
Another tree on this beautiful planet.
Feel yourself at home,
Safe,
Protected,
Nurtured,
And also reaching for the stars,
Gathering up celestial energy,
Inspiration for your journey ahead.
Portification as you develop and nurture your seeds of intention,
Seeds of creation,
Seeds of love.
Allow yourself to sway,
To lean,
To grow.
Notice that in this moment,
Everything is perfect.
You are following your imperative.
You are connected to the divine and you are supported by the earth beneath you.
Ask now of this intention,
This seed of love,
This mighty tree,
Ask what message it carries for you.
Ask what kind of tree you have grown into.
Ask how this tree would like to be nurtured going forward.
And decide if you will commit to nurturing,
To caring for,
To acting out the imperative inside of you.
Knowing full well that you are always supported by this earth,
By the heavens,
By your community.
Allow the swaying to come to a place of stillness.
Allow the vision of this beautiful tree to begin to recede.
Draw your branches back down into your heart.
Draw the roots up through your feet and legs to join that seed in your heart,
That seed of creation.
But hold steadfast to the messages you received.
Hold steadfast to your decision to nurture your intentions and to follow your imperative.
You are a creator.
You are limitless.
And when you are connected,
You are safe.
You are loved.
You are seen.
You are held.
You have everything within you that you need to create a life that is beyond your wildest imagination.
And if you follow those seeds,
They will lead you right to it.
