Hey family,
Welcome to this meditation called Reconnect to Something Bigger Than Me,
A meditation specifically designed to support you with releasing procrastination or that sensation of feeling stuck.
So firstly to understand procrastination and why it happens,
It's important to adjust our beliefs and witness the procrastination from a different perspective.
We've been conditioned to believe that procrastination is somehow a symptom of laziness that can carry with it an element of guilt.
When in truth there's more going on here.
Procrastination is actually not,
I'm secretly lazy and I don't want to do things.
Procrastination is more,
I don't believe that I have the energy to do what my inner knowing is inviting me to do.
Essentially procrastination is a misalignment between the mind,
The body and the spirit.
The mind's ideas of what we should be doing,
What the body feels that it can do and what spirit is guiding us to do at a deep cellular level.
Procrastination intentionally doesn't feel good since it's a misalignment as a sign to direct you to coming back into alignment more deeply.
With that alignment comes trust,
Trust in yourself,
Trust in God or a power bigger than yourself and trust in the circumstances around you to facilitate your journey.
Through this meditation we will restore that trust in self,
Trust in a bigger higher more expansive power and trust in the circumstances of your life as they are.
So let's begin.
I first invite you to make sure that you're in a comfortable seated position making sure your spine's upright,
Your shoulders are relaxed,
Palms facing upwards to bring breath and invite breath into your lungs.
And now from here close down your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose expanding into your chest and abdomen.
Feeling your rib cage lift and expand and then exhale to release through your mouth with a sigh just starting to let go.
In this short time give yourself permission to be completely here and to feel completely safe in being completely here by releasing and letting go of any thoughts or things that were happening to bring you to this very moment and anything that may happen later today.
Call those parts of your attention that might be tied to thoughts or anxieties or ideas and expectations.
Take a moment to call those back into yourself through breath.
Inhaling deeply,
Feeling that restoration and then exhaling through your mouth to release and let go.
And do that one more time inhaling deeply restoring energy to the core of your being and exhaling to release and let go.
And now from here allow your breath to return to its own natural rhythm just mindfully noticing how that's deeper and slower than how it may usually feel as you go through your day to day life.
From here I invite you to bring your hands to connect to your heart center so in the center of your chest at the same level of your physical heart and just with that notice the calming feeling that comes with this physical sensation of connecting your hand to your heart's energy center.
This may feel like a warmth or just a soft knowing or feeling of presence in your body.
Take a few moments to enjoy this feeling.
Invite the feeling to grow in its intensity imagining you have a dial to be able to dial it up and amplify it through your body.
Notice your body relax and let go of any tension.
Sink even more deeply into your seat.
And from here I invite you to release your hands to your lap once more and take one more deep inhale and exhale to release.
From here feel sense or imagine or visualize yourself seated on a chair.
Notice that feeling of support beneath you from the chair coming up from the earth.
Now from here I invite you to feel sense or imagine that you look around the base of the chair to notice that this chair is suspended in complete darkness.
However you don't feel any fear you feel complete trust that you're being guided through this process.
Notice the sensation that this darkness brings to your body.
Allow yourself to sink into a feeling of trust and now you look down towards your feet and notice a tightrope extended out in front of you into the darkness and the tightrope invites you to stand up with your heels connected to your toes and balance.
You have complete trust in your inner knowing that you are destined to walk this path.
You take one more deep inhale as you start to take steps one by one keeping each heel connected to your toes as you move forward down the tightrope.
As you step away from the chair you feel the wind blowing around you and in this point you instantly take your hands out to the side to support your balance.
Take a moment to notice what that balance feels like as you take each step one by one one foot in front of the other heel to toe one small step at a time.
Now with your hands out to the sides you feel the support of a power beneath each palm holding you and supporting you as you walk through the breezy air around you.
Continue to take these steps one foot at a time feeling the support guiding you holding your hands up to sustain your balance as you walk through.
Continue to walk for the next few moments noticing how it feels to be held as you step into this darkness in front of you along the tightrope.
Notice that at any time that your hands fall down to your sides you feel the turbulence around you and you feel your trust wane but all you need to do to come back to that trust is to take your hands back out to the sides and feel the support of a more intense power holding your hands supporting your balance as you walk slowly down this path one small step at a time completely supported completely trusting.
Continue to lean into that sensation of trust and support around you as you take each step along your destined path.
If you haven't already lift your chin up so that you're not looking down towards your feet and now start to walk trusting in complete guidance in each step that's being taken.
Now as you lift your chin up you notice that you're no longer in a field of darkness and are now surrounded by a field of light.
Continue to walk down the path chin up hands extended taking one step at a time feeling the support from this expanded power from beyond yourself holding you as you walk along your path.
Continue and your strides get bigger as you feel this support around you and eventually you find that the light melts away around you and you find yourself standing on a clifftop looking down at how far you've come and all the things that you've experienced and come through along your journey.
All that you have changed and created.
From here there's no more walking to do and you enjoy this feeling of bathing in the sense of achievement of all you have changed and created.
Now take a moment to bring your hands into prayer in front of your heart space and bow your head in gratitude for the support that's guiding you along your journey and when you're ready take a deep breath exhale to release and open your eyes to welcome yourself back.
So this meditation specifically invited you to lean into the support around you as you walk your path.
When we fall into procrastination and fall into this sensation of feeling like we can't walk the path we usually have fallen into the fear that we don't have the power within us to take each step but in most cases you're not looking for the power within you but you're looking for that expansive higher power to support you along your journey and this meditation reminds you that that higher power is with you.
