Hello,
Please make yourself comfortable,
Ideally sitting upright on a cushion or a chair.
Back straight,
Arms dropped,
And relax.
Feel as though an invisible string were gently lifting you upwards from the crown of your
Head.
This will help to straighten the spine.
Allow the body to relax and soften,
Noticing any particular points of tension,
And taking
A few nice deep breaths into them.
Now become aware of the belly rising as you breathe in,
And the belly falling as you breathe
Out.
Do not force it to move in any way,
Just allow it to be exactly as it is.
Whether fast or slow,
Deep or shallow,
Just allowing it to be completely as it is.
This awareness of the belly breath will act as our anchor throughout the following meditation.
However,
It is not our main focus.
It is something to fall back on if the mind is overly busy,
Fast,
Or chaotic.
Use it as a tool when needed,
Remembering that you can return to it at any time.
But I encourage you,
Whenever your mind is relatively calm or still,
To allow yourself
To rest simply in presence,
In the pure awareness of all that is.
And so for a few more moments,
Let's just observe the belly breath once more.
In and out,
In and out.
Belly rises,
Belly falls.
Belly rises,
Belly falls.
Belly rises,
Belly falls.
Feeling the automatic movement of the breath,
Completely at ease,
Completely unrestrained.
This meditation is a guide towards nothing,
A zero point,
A clarion call to let go,
To
Finally come home,
To call off the search.
Do you ever get tired of striving,
Straining,
Endlessly trying,
With an endless to-do list?
The light at the end of the tunnel,
The gold at the end of the rainbow,
The final solution
To all of the problems.
Convincing oneself that the answer to discontent is just over the horizon,
Or just around the
Corner.
Perhaps it's found in something out there.
If only you could attain it,
The money,
The lover,
The job,
The next item on the list.
But it never truly arrives.
This incessant itch remains,
One that can never be scratched.
And so we come to ask ourselves the question,
What would it be like to call off the search?
To stop and truly be present,
To sit here right now in full acceptance,
Knowing that
There is nowhere to go,
Nothing to do,
No one to be.
Just sitting without any expectation of anything.
Sitting in full receptivity,
Allowing ourselves to receive.
Receiving sounds,
Receiving sensations,
Receiving feelings,
Receiving breath.
And as we sit here,
We ask ourselves,
Right now,
What is missing?
Right now,
What is missing in this moment?
Becoming aware of our tendency to run,
To escape,
And to evade the present moment at
Any cost.
To sit here face to face with all of our imagined fears,
From great to small.
No past,
No future.
The past is gone,
The future is yet to come.
Yet here I am,
Here I am.
Resting in the I am.
Resting in simply being.
Resting in pure awareness.
Resting in pure perfection.
Allowing all that is to simply be.
As it is.
As it is.
Not how we would like it to be,
But as it is.
As we do this,
We realise the boogeyman we've created,
And grown with our minds,
Holds
No power over us.
With this light of pure awareness,
We see that all that is outside,
Has been shaped
And created by the mind.
Like the surface of a lake,
That reflects the moon's image,
It may be stirred,
It may
Be still,
But it is merely a reflection of the One.
The One that sits beyond the mind,
The One that is never born,
And never dies.
All-knowing,
All-seeing,
Pure awareness.
And so we sit,
Here,
Now,
Resting in pure awareness,
Resting in stillness,
Aware of
Any resistance arising in the body or the mind.
And opening to it,
Like the warm embrace of the Mother.
Unconditionally accepting this moment,
And all that it brings.
Opening the heart to this moment,
Dying to this moment,
A moment like no other.
And as you allow yourself to drop deeper,
To let go further,
You may realise that there
Appears to be no limit to the depth of surrender that is available to you.
No limit to your expansion,
No limits to this pure and radiant awareness.
And so I'll leave you here,
For a few minutes,
To bask in this stillness,
To rest in this
Emptiness,
To sit in this fullness,
Remembering that you can return to the breath at any time,
Now slowly and gently returning to the awareness of voice,
Of sounds,
Becoming aware of the
Sounds around you,
Becoming aware of the body,
Of the room or of the space you are in,
Feeling
A sense of calmness,
Peace and gratitude radiating outward,
Feeling a sense of love
And compassion for yourself and others.
