This is a guided meditation to help you connect with a previous experience. We reconnect to the experience via sense memories; by connecting to what we saw, heard, tasted, felt and smelt at that experience. The experience could be a memory that was happy, peaceful, or something that brings you confidence. By revisiting this memory and bringing it back to mind in detail, you will help to connect to any feelings and insights you have from this experience. It will also help you to strengthen your memory of the experience, helping you to retain it.

So you can begin by finding a comfortable position,

Seated or lying down.

And just begin by coming into the present moment.

You might like to gently close your eyes and begin by taking a few long,

Slow,

Deep breaths.

And you might allow your muscles in your body to relax.

Checking in,

Just relaxing the muscles in your jaw,

Relaxing your shoulders,

Relaxing the muscles in your stomach.

We will revisit a previous experience and we will do that by reconnecting to it through our sense memories.

So we will move through sight,

Sound,

Taste,

Smell and touch.

Recalling back to mind the experience as best we can and allowing anything that arises from those recollections to come up and to sit and be with it.

So you can begin by bringing to mind the sights from your experience.

Anything that you saw that might have been things in the room,

The faces of people you were with,

Any internal visions that you may have had.

Just bring them to mind,

Envision them in your mind's eye.

Try to see as much detail as you can and continue doing this for a few moments.

You may move through a few different images or sights that you saw on that day.

Or you may hold one or two significant ones.

Just hold them in your mind's eye,

Trying to add deeper levels of detail.

And as you do that,

Allow any associated thoughts and feelings to arise.

And just take a moment to check in with how you feel in your body in this moment.

Now moving on to sound.

Call to mind any sounds that you heard on that day.

Maybe the sound of some music.

You can play that music in your mind,

Hearing it,

The rhythm,

The instruments,

Timbres and textures.

Maybe there were some sounds from the environment that you were in.

Maybe some sounds of nature,

The wind or rain.

Or maybe the sound of someone's voice that was with you.

Just take these moments to call back to mind any sounds that you heard that day.

And again,

Just stay with these sounds for a few more moments,

Allowing any associations or thoughts or feelings to come up.

And also if nothing really comes up,

That's fine and allowing that too.

And once again,

As you hear these sounds again,

Just take a moment to check in,

Once again,

How you feel in your body in this moment.

Now moving on to taste.

Recalling any tastes that you had that day.

Maybe the taste of the medicine that you took,

Bringing that back to mind.

Or maybe it was some food or drink during the experience.

Once again,

Bringing that to mind and holding it there and reconnecting with that day.

Once again,

Checking in with how you feel in your body now.

And then now bringing to mind any smells that you remember.

Maybe it was an incense burning.

Maybe it was the smell of the room,

The clothes that you had.

Or the smell of being outside.

Just take a moment to reconnect with any smells that you can recall from that experience.

And finally,

Reconnecting with touch.

Anything that you touched that day.

Any textures that you can recall.

Maybe the texture of something that you were lying down on.

Or maybe an item of clothing that you were wearing.

Just once again,

Feeling that against your skin.

And reconnecting to that experience through that memory.

And finally,

You might like to try to recall all of these elements at the same time as best you can.

So what you saw,

The sights,

The sounds,

The tastes,

Smells,

And touch.

Re-experiencing all of that.

And once again,

Checking back in with how you feel now in this moment in your body.

You can revisit this or any other experience again anytime you wish by using this technique and reconnecting through your senses.

Thank you for watching.
