This recording will guide you in developing and tapping in the resource of a calm and peaceful person.
This recording might help you prepare for being in a situation where you'd like to embody those feelings of peace and calm for yourself.
So begin by finding a quiet place to sit where you won't be disturbed.
And then when you're ready,
Close your eyes if that's comfortable for you.
And begin by taking a few natural but just slightly deeper,
Slower breaths.
Taking a breath in and on the out breath,
Really letting that breath go.
When you're ready,
Taking another deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Just allowing yourself to sink a little bit further into the surface that you're sitting on,
Coming to just being in this present moment.
And then bringing to mind a person who you associate with peace and calm.
Someone who's balanced and equanimous,
Even in challenging situations.
Maybe you know someone who you thought,
Oh,
I'd like to be like them in this heated conversation.
This could be a person you know,
Or a person from a movie or a book.
Could be a historical,
Spiritual or political person.
So it could be a real person,
Or someone from your imagination.
Both are completely fine.
And what's most important is that when you bring this person to mind,
You experience a sense of peace,
Of calm,
Of balance,
And equanimity.
So you might pause here and just take some time to bring this person to mind and maybe thinking about a situation where you saw them really embodying these qualities.
So when you find that resource person,
Notice what you see.
What does the person look like?
What expression is on his or her face?
Where are the person's hands and how are they holding them?
Bring in as much visual detail as you can.
And feel free to pause the recording after any of these instructions if you need more time to more fully bring this image into your mind.
As you imagine the resource person,
Notice how you feel.
When you begin to sense a sense of peace,
Calm and equanimity,
Begin to tap.
Tapping six to 12 times.
Right left,
Right left.
Going at your own pace.
Focusing on this person and their qualities of calm and peacefulness.
And then stop tapping and see how you're feeling.
If you're feeling good and the image and good sensations are strengthening,
You can tap some more.
Tap as long as it feels good and continues to strengthen and integrate.
So you might pause to do that right now.
You can also take your resource person into a present situation that you're dealing with that requires these qualities that they manifest or represent to you.
So you can think of a situation that you're currently in or expecting to be in that requires peace,
Calm and equanimity.
What scene or situation comes to mind?
What image comes to mind as you think about this?
In particular,
Noticing what's the most disturbing part of it?
And so as you have identified that,
Now bring to mind a memory of your having embodied peace,
Calm and equanimity.
Or imagine one of your resource figures that you've tapped in who exhibit and embody these qualities.
So you might take a few moments and bring that person to mind more fully.
And as you feel the strength of that resource,
Tap six to 12 times,
Right,
Left,
Right,
Left to activate and strengthen these feelings of this resource.
Feel the qualities of peace,
Of calm,
Of equanimity and patience within yourself as you tap.
If you'd like to you could bring in another memory of having had the quality or of another resource figure.
When that feels strong,
Tap these in as well to further activate and strengthen these qualities,
Lighting up that neural pathway so that it will make it more accessible to you when you really need it.
When you have a sense,
A strong sense of peace,
Calm and equanimity,
Return to the scene or image of your current situation.
When you bring it up now,
What do you experience?
If the scene feels more peaceful than it did earlier,
Tap a few times to further strengthen and integrate that feeling.
If it helps and feels right,
You can even imagine your resource figure with you in the scene.
I hope this practice serves you well.
