Timeless wisdom from the ancient text the Tao te Ching. Written so long ago yet still so relevant! Let’s bask in this insight and truly enjoy our life today! My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Welcome to In The Flow,

A positivity provoking podcast designed to lift us up to that higher place to live our best lives.

We will laugh,

Cry,

Meditate,

And discuss any and all things spiritual to learn and remove any stigma surrounding spiritual gifts,

Meditation,

Prayer,

And the afterlife.

The Tao Te Ching.

How does that like freak you out when I say that?

Because I,

Over the years,

I've read some of it,

And then I put it away for a while.

Read it,

Put it away,

You know?

It is a classic Chinese text,

Right?

By Lao Tzu.

And it was written,

You know,

It varies when they say it was written between like 600 maybe 400 BC,

Right?

So that's really a long time ago.

It amazes me how relevant it is today.

You know,

I mean the verses in there,

You just kind of look,

You read it and you go,

That could have been written right now.

And I just love that.

I love that,

I'm going to say it this way,

Like society hasn't changed,

Right?

We still are learning the same lessons from back then.

Isn't that amazing?

That just absolutely blows my mind when I consider that.

You know,

It's that whole,

We've all been craving this forever,

Self mastery.

I mean,

Even if you think back to the other ancient texts,

You know,

The Yoga Sutras,

They're all talking about how to live a great life,

Live a better life,

And master yourself.

And I just find it to be so absolutely incredible.

And I feel,

This is the reality of it,

I feel so fortunate that I am,

You know,

I mean when I was young,

You know,

When we're young,

You know,

You just kind of go through life and blah blah blah and that sort of stuff,

Right?

But the reality is,

Is that,

You know,

Once I got a little bit older and I started realizing the significance of all of this,

It just blows my mind.

It's so amazing,

Right?

So I was reading the Tao Te Ching yesterday and one verse,

You know,

There are many,

Many translations,

If you're not familiar with it,

If you're familiar with it,

I'm sorry you have to listen to this,

But there are many translations of it,

You know,

And many,

Okay,

So there's many translations and then there's many sort of interpretations of it,

Right?

So,

Of course,

One of my favorite translators of it is Wayne Dyer.

And because he says things in such a way,

He speaks in such a way that I understand it.

I don't know,

Everybody has that one teacher or that one person that speaks in such a way that it just clicks and it makes sense,

Right?

Well,

Wayne Dyer is that for me.

So the 33rd verse,

There are 81 verses in the Tao Te Ching,

And the 33rd verse is what I'm going to read and then we're going to meditate on it because it's,

You know,

It just,

It's timeless,

Right?

It's timeless knowledge.

So here is the 33rd verse.

One who understands others has knowledge.

One who understands himself has wisdom.

That makes me want to cry.

Okay,

I'm not done.

That's just like,

I just really got emotional in that.

Okay,

I'm going to continue.

Maybe I'll start over.

Oh my gosh.

Okay.

One who understands others has knowledge.

One who understands himself has wisdom.

Mastering others requires force.

Mastering the self needs strength.

If you realize that you have enough,

You are truly rich.

Oh my God,

I'm just going to,

I'm just going to cry all day.

I think this is going to be a,

Holy crap.

Okay,

There's more.

There's one more.

Oh my gosh.

Okay.

One who gives himself to his position surely lives long.

One who gives himself to the Tao surely lives forever.

Okay.

I got through it.

I mean,

It just,

It's just amazing.

You know,

Um,

The Tao is the flow of the universe.

The Tao means like,

Yeah,

Our relationship to the flow of the universe.

Basically there's so much more to say about that and I don't mean to trivialize it,

But that's okay.

Okay,

So I got through that verse.

It,

It just is another ancient text that tells us to go within,

Master yourself.

And that's the path to enlightenment.

I mean,

Go within.

It's amazing.

I mean,

It just,

I just absolutely get so blown away.

And especially with this eclipse energy lately,

You know,

In the last few days,

It just means so much.

So that's what we're meditating on today.

Are you surprised at all?

Oh my gosh.

So,

Okay,

Now I'm just like,

I'm so teary.

I wonder what the rest of the day is going to bring,

You know?

Holy crap.

Okay.

So let's get ourselves comfortable and,

Um,

Oh my goodness.

Let's get ourselves comfortable and,

Um,

Let's start to consider,

Let's start to consider the 33rd verse of the Tao Te Ching.

It's beautiful.

So let's take a nice deep breath.

Close your eyes whenever you feel comfortable.

Take a deep breath in and release.

Perfect.

That beautiful first breath of the day.

Well,

Maybe not your first breath of the day.

The first deep breath of the day is just so relaxing,

But yet enlivening at the same time.

Right?

So as we get ready to sit in the stillness for just a few minutes,

Let's consider yet again a few things that we are grateful for.

Give yourself the ability to come up with three things that you are grateful for today.

And obviously they will be different for all of us.

Right now I am so grateful for my ability to read these ancient texts and study.

When it touches your heart,

That's when it touches your soul.

You know?

What else are you grateful for?

Beautiful.

Very good.

So today,

No mantra.

We're going to focus on our breath.

We are going to sit in the silence,

Focus on our breath,

And consider the 33rd verse of the Tao Te Ching,

Which I will read again as we sit in the stillness.

After I read the verse,

We will sit in the silence.

I will keep the time.

And let's begin.

One who understands others has knowledge.

One who understands himself has wisdom.

Mastering others requires force.

Mastering the self needs strength.

If you realize that you have enough,

You are truly rich.

One who gives himself to his position surely lives long.

One who gives himself to the Tao surely lives forever.
