Welcome to my reflections on the broad impact an artistic creation has.
During a meditative moment,
I got an image of the energy spreading from one artistic creation I made.
I had never realized that the impact reaches so far.
We can think as deeply as we can about the impact,
But if we are not in such a profound relaxed state,
Our focus will widen.
We will be aware of the difficulties and the wonderful moments in the creation process,
As well as the problems of everyday life.
What I want to share is the deeper insight I had during that meditation.
It has profoundly influenced my awareness around artistic creation since.
Every action has a reaction.
We all know that.
So does every artistic creation.
The act of creating has an effect on the person who creates and on those who experience the work.
That is what happens during a specific time and in a specific place.
But it goes far beyond that,
In a subtle way.
You can somewhat compare it to what happens on your paper when you write down a word and then start making a chain association of words,
And then generating a flower association or a word cloud for each word in that chain.
That kind of far-reaching ripple effect is what my meditation pointed to.
Actually,
This is what is called the butterfly effect.
That's a metaphor originally coined in the context of weather forecasting,
And it says that one small event can affect a much larger complex system.
So,
How does that work with the work of art?
Let's replace the artwork with an event from everyday life.
For example,
Smiling at a passerby on the street.
Or the opposite,
Accidentally bumping into someone and walking on without sorry.
That event makes a difference in that person's life.
It affects them and gives them a touch of positive or negative energy.
That will be reflected in the way that person will behave afterwards,
And that will have an effect in his or her interactions.
Because they will be,
Even if only slightly,
Different from the interactions he or she would have had without that first interaction.
And from there,
Each of those interactions will affect the interactions associated with those interactions.
And so on.
By interactions,
I do not only mean the act of doing something and the energy with which it is done,
But also the people involved.
And the same goes for the person who was smiling or being blunt.
That behavior will have an effect on the rest of their day,
Their behavior,
Interactions,
And this in expanding clouds of interactions.
An artistic creation generates a similar wave of reactions.
This expanding impact is something that cannot be measured,
It cannot be compared or put on a scale,
But there is an empirical explanation.
Suppose we follow the premise of quantum physics,
Which is that everything in the universe is energy,
And the nature of energy is movement,
Interaction.
And everything and everyone on this planet,
Even in the entire universe,
Has its own vibrational frequency.
This means that our thoughts and feelings and emotions have a specific energy frequency.
A low frequency is associated with negativity,
A high one with happiness.
Our frequency is determined by how we think and feel,
And so what we create is a concrete shaping of our frequency while we create,
And thus becomes an entity with that specific frequency.
That means that when someone comes in contact with that artwork,
It is his frequency in relation to that of the artwork.
Meanwhile,
We are also convinced that everything in the universe is connected.
And knowing that,
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could try to consciously create art or learn how to experience art that can lift us to a more positive frequency?
This sounds easy,
And I believe it is easy.
The moment we understand that principle of interconnectedness by energy,
We hold the key.
Once we have that deep sense that we are pure energy,
One with everything,
It is irrevocably connected to the way we strive to behave in the world.
I really wish everyone to experience that interconnectedness momentum firsthand.
There is no manual on how to make that happen,
But it can occur when you immerse yourself in nature or during a meditation.
Imagine sitting in meditation or walking in nature,
Breathing quietly,
Your mind relaxed and nothing in your surroundings disturbing you in any way.
You are not looking for anything,
You are just breathing.
It is quite possible that you suddenly feel a connection with all that is.
You experience your breath energy as part of the pulsating universe.
You feel the trees,
The air,
The flowers,
The animals,
The rocks.
You are them.
That moment you will have a deeper understanding of what life is all about and how everything and everyone is connected.
That experience happens with the whole body.
It is an intuitive knowing.
It feels like a knowing that was always there,
But was forgotten.
The image I chose for these reflections is one I made when I was invited to reflect on interconnectedness.
The figure is the familiar Enzo sign,
The just not closed circle made with one brushstroke on one breath.
These are the thoughts I wrote to communicate what I felt when I made it.
Between the line of my pencil and the stroke of my brush,
There is no difference.
Between the gesture formed by my hand and what is not yet expressed,
There is no difference.
I hope the sharing of my insight will be helpful to you in some way.
I wish you wonderful experiences of interconnectedness and that these may find expression in your artistic creations.
Thank you for listening.
Many blessings.
