During these times of stress and anxiety, how do we let go when we experience our body, mind, and spirit tightening up and feeling bound? In this guided practice, we will learn a healing mantra to release in the moment and free ourselves so there is a return to center. Remember, "letting go" does not mean we don't feel or we will never experience these emotions again, rather it is a tool to help us when we might experience feeling imbalanced in our alignment of mind, body & spirit.

Hi everyone,

I'm Norah Speakman.

Thank you for joining me today.

I want you to get comfortable,

Whether that's sitting,

Laying down,

Just comfortable and quiet.

It's a gift to give ourselves space to replenish and renew.

And that's what we're going to do today.

So first,

I want you to just give yourself some loving attention to your body and your breath.

Just soften,

Let yourself be settled into the groundedness of the present moment,

The now moment,

The eternal moment.

And let's just start by taking in some breath work.

So we're gonna breathe in and inhale for about seven seconds.

We're gonna hold,

And I like to try to hold for four,

And then release just the longest exhale that you can.

We breathe in again and hold and release.

Today I want to talk about how to let go.

How do we let go?

There's a lot of uncertainty,

There's a lot of things changing rapidly.

We're in a time of world history with this coronavirus pandemic.

How do we learn to receive what we need,

To be aware where those things impact us in our body and our mind,

And where do we let go?

So I want you to consider,

What's the story that we believe?

What's the situation?

What are the feelings that get conjured up and the reactions that it's time to let go of?

Is it fear?

Is it anger?

Perhaps a lack of trust?

Maybe we're worried about our family who's not in the same location as we are.

And what we're doing in that is we're recognizing that we're a little unsettled in that space and that's okay.

We're just going to take a moment and consider what it is that we're experiencing that we need to let go of.

And now as we are gently aware of our breath,

We're going to move into acceptance.

And what that looks like is we're going to name the feeling.

Whether it is fear,

Whether it is sadness,

Who is it that has come to visit us in the form of emotion?

Can we allow them the space to be and to sort of just float without resistance,

Holding this with a heart of compassion?

So as you breathe,

I want you to consider and name what it is.

Name the feeling.

Name the emotion.

And we continue to breathe and be aware of our unique heartbeat,

The rhythm that is us.

We're going to notice the parts of our body responding to what we've just named.

And now we're going to ask ourselves,

Is it indeed wise to release,

To let go of this visitor?

And we're going to feel the benefit and the ease of letting this go.

So as we move into this time of understanding,

Giving ourselves that gift,

As we would give to another,

I want you to tell yourself,

Let go,

Let go just gently.

Feel your body and your heart soften.

Let any feelings that arise drain out of you,

Just like a waterfall,

Just draining away,

Going into the earth.

Just sense how these feelings can be released.

Just like bath water,

You pull the drain and everything begins going,

Just releasing,

Running away from this space.

I want you to notice how your heart softens and how your body opens up.

I want you to sense the freedom that comes and sort of the innocence,

The ease that we get to receive in letting go.

And as you experience that,

I want you to say that mantra to yourself again.

Let go,

Let go,

Let go.

And then I want you to sort of do a body scan and a mind scan.

And if this feeling is sort of being a little stubborn,

Then I want you to just kindly in the sweetest way say,

I have let you go.

I have let you go.

And I want you to feel it dissipate.

I want you to feel your body really saying goodbye to that so we can move into receiving in another space,

Receiving love,

Receiving joy.

We don't need to fear letting go.

You can trust the courage and vulnerability of your heart to meet life as it is,

As it unfolds.

And we learn to rest in a loving and kind way where we are.

I want you to feel the weight beneath you,

The tender ground of honesty,

Healing,

And love that carries you through the ever changing world.

And as we begin to learn to let things be,

They gradually lose their power.

They lose this ability that disturbs us.

And as we're coming to a close of learning this mantra,

This way,

I want you to consider that throughout your day,

No matter what presents,

Because you're learning awareness of your mind,

Your body,

And your spirit that when you feel these visitors,

As I call them,

Come to try to arrest you,

That you can remind yourself by saying,

Let go,

Let go.

And finally,

I've let you go.

And then we can fill that space with something that's more nourishing for our mind,

Our body,

And our spirit.

So I want you to give yourself permission to experience that today.

And remember,

We can always let go,

But we must learn to be aware when we are being bound up so that we can release.

I thank you so much for honoring me with the gift of your time today.

Wishing you the best day.

And remember,

You can always let go.

Until next time.

I am a manager of the COVID unit and I have been doing mandatory meditation session each shift using this audio. It helps us pause, and feel grounded. Thank you, this was most timely.

This was just what I needed in this time of chaos we find our world moving through. I have been very anxious lately and you helped me to name the fear and lack of trust I have and also let them go. I will return to this meditation as it is the first time I have been able to both name and let go of specific feelings. I feel much more at ease after this practice. Namaste 🙏
